A lot of us set for mid to late June. Good luck everybody and hope to hear how the meeting with the surgeon went. Does anybody know if they give you a set amount of weight they want u to lose pre op or do they just tell u a set time like a two week liquid diet? I fear getting this far and then not being able to lose the prescribed amount of pre op weight.

My doctor never mentioned trying to lose a specific amount of weight. From my understanding, it is more of just a liver shrinking thing.

I had mine 4/10.

I was not nervous the entire.process- just excited...

Then 4/10 came, I was still nothing but excited. Reported to hospital, got all set, talked.to Dr and OR nurse- still excited ...anesthesiologist came in and I burst out in tears, even a little feeling of 'i can't do this' ..thank god.the anesthesia Dr was there for my meltdown because he gave.me a chill out shot and everything was good with the world again :)

I must say- 2.5 weeks out and I am SO GLAD I didn't chicken out, I'm positive this surgery is the.best thing I've done for myself possibly ever!

Recovery isn't.horrible.at all- be excited :)

I am hoping to set a June 6th date. I meet with my surgeon first on Wednesday. Not sure what he will have me doing but I am so ready. I am excited and nervous and a little worried about the pain.

Newbie, I'm a 6-4 boy as well. Being an old guy, I've had plenty of surgey and it's always fine. You go to sleep and wake up wondering when they are going to start :-)

If you know the hospital and MD are good, No Worries! The procedure is very straightforward, and not too complicated by tine structures, heck (if not squemish) you can watch on You Tube!!!

So we'll all have Gemini new stomachs!

Hi, I'm new to the forum and glad I found it.

My surgery is scheduled for June 3rd. I think I may be more anxious than nervous. I found that now I have become addicted to watching YouTube videos of vsg journeys.

I'm nervous & excited & anxious & all that, too. It's such a big step, but I feel like I'm as ready as I can make myself. The 5 or 6 people I know who have had some type of WLS are sick to death of me pestering them, and I'm sure they just want me to shut up already. But I have asked every question I can think of, and searched all over these threads for tips, advice, and giggles to make it all easier. Everybody's process seems a little different, but the support is so great & very much appreciated.

I have a June 6th date and I am super excited. I have already started preparing by eating a shake for Breakfast and a healthy lunch and dinner. I haven't lost any weight since I went to my surgeon on May 1st but I haven't gained anything either. I will start the real pre-op diet on May 21st after eating a really huge meal the night before. I will then start weighing my food and keeping up with exactly what I put in my mouth. I will be on shakes only the week before and I am not thrilled but I hope I will lose 10 to 20 lbs before surgery. My highest weight was 283 when I started this journey and I am at 268. I can't wait till June 6.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
