One thing I'm not looking forward to:

Recommended Posts

Having periods again! Ugh! I have PCOS and also an IUD, so I've never been regular and I haven't had a period in years. I've probably had less than 50 periods in my life, and that's a very generous estimate. And I tell you what: it. is. GLORIOUS. But if I have this surgery, I might start having ye olde monthly blood rage regularly for the first time ever. ;_;

I totally understand. I've had horribly irregular periods since the moment I started. I would have one about once a year, and when I did... ugh. Two weeks of flooding misery. I couldn't do anything. When I lost weight the old-fashioned way a couple of years ago, my periods became regular and much easier to deal with. I used to think I didn't want regular periods either, but knowing when it was going to happen each month, and having it be only about three days of light to moderate... I would much rather have that. They started getting wonky again after I gained my weight back, but are still kind of regular, though heavier. I'm looking forward to them lightening up again as I lose more weight.

Maybe I missed something, but why is WLS going to make your period begin if you an IUD?

Well, two reasons really. The IUD doesn't completely stop periods for everyone, but it has a much higher chance of doing that for people who are already irregular (such as people who have pcos). So if I lose weight which tends to resolve pcos symptoms, breakthrough bleeding may start to occur.

Then there's the fact that I'm on year 3 of my IUD and when I take it out in 2 years I'll hopefully be at a normal weight which = normal periods. Or at least I assume that is the case.

If you have mirena you won't probably get real periods. Just a couple days of panty liners for the smudges. I used mirena to keep the lining from over growing due to PCOS, before my hyst.

Well I didn't ever have an IUD but I do have PCOS and since I've been sleeved Aunt Flo comes visiting every month now around the 30th.

And before surgery I might have had 1 period a year.

Yes but Mirena keeps the lining from building up. That means you almost can't have a heavy period on it. That's how it keeps you from being able to conceive. I was on Mirena because the PCOS was making my lining build up every month but not shed. My whole uterus was full of it. Had to have a d&c and the Mirena to prevent it happening again.

When I was on the IUD.. My period became heavier and longer then the few time I would have it before I had my daughter . Does your surgeon know you have the IUD cause I wanted to put mine back in but he told me no cause it can cause clots, good thing it fell out 2 months ago I guess cause he said it would have put me back a month..

      Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

        Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

        Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
