Hi All,

I originally posted my date as Dec. 21st but due to insurance problem it's changed to Dec. 29th.

Also, due to ins-location is no longer SCOR, it's at Richardson Regional Hosp. I heard it was a nice place. I asked Dr. Benavides scheduler if I was still having the Lapband, since they had changed everything else!!!:paranoid She thought that was quite funny.:girl_hug:

ShyTexRose-guess I won't see you there. Anyway, congrats to all having surgery this week and I'm right behind you!!!

Hi Bigbaby, sorry so long answering. The process for pre-cert wasn't long! My 1st visit to AIGB was Oct. 13th and after completing Psych visit, stress test, nutritionist (in case my L A Weight Loss diet wasn't enough for Ins.), Paperwork submitted 11-28 and approved on 12-6. Whew!!! The pre-op diet consists of 2 high Protein meals and 3 Protein Shakes. Coffee/tea with Splenda, low fat/sugar and carbs. Not too bad. I'm glad it's not the all liquid diet like some have to do. Also, since I'm going to Richardson Regional I have to stay overnight in the hosp. But we must do what we have to, RIGHT???!!

Good Luck and keep me informed

My insurance also wouldn't allow Surgery Center of Richardson so I am having it at Presby. I have heard very good things about it but had also heard not all insurances allow it. I am just happy insurance finally approved the surgery.

I just called insurance to be sure the doctor's office had ok'ed Thursday's date. They have. All set.

The pre-op diet isn't a big thing now. The first 4 days were the worst.

Of course I am nervous, hopeful, self-doubting.

BlackButterfly, I am sorry your date had to be postponed.

I am staying overnight too. The doc gave me the option. I tend to have nausea after surgery so it will be fast for them to give me a shot if I do. I know they frown on nausea. After a night I will be ok.

Long time coming. It has taken me over 3 years to get finally approved. I didn't know what I was doing until I went through AIGB. I thought Weight Watchers would help me get the ok from insurance but it did not. Things I thought were documentation they thought not.

ReneBean, I am glad you have heard good things about my doctor. He did my one of my doctor's mother's surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
