That happen to me as we'll.. It's been 18 months since my sleeve and 9 months post gall bladder removal but I still have the same pains.. Make sure to ask your doctor what are the chances of you getting ibs after gall bladder removal and see of maybe they can just remove your gall stones I'm honestly thinking that because I no longer have my gall bladder that's the reason why I know have ibs. And it's not fun..

There is no relationship between GB removal and weight gain. The gall bladder stores bile which helps in digestion. When removed, bile is still produced (in the liver), just the storage (and the place where stones are formed) is gone. There is a LOT of good web info on GB function and disease!

Nicolanz...update on the ultrasound?

From my limited understanding, once you form gall stones it is quite likely time to remove the gall bladder. If yours are minimal and can be helped with medicine, that is great. I asked about that (but it was about 14 years ago that I had mine removed, thanks to dieting) and I was told (again at the time) that medicine could work short term, but that in most cases the stones keep coming back.

The intense pain you have is when your body is passing a stone through your system and I just have to echo everyone here who said the pain is WORSE than labor. Yep, that is how I've always described it too. And once it was gone I was so happy to never feel that pain again!!

I had my gallbladder taken out after losing 100 pounds on Medifast. My first attack, I thought I was going to die. Some people are lucky enough to only ever have one attack, but I had them on and off during 2012 until I finally told them to just take the dang thing out!

Well, doc said it's going to have to be taken out. There's too many stones for a prescription. I haven't called the surgeon yet :P

I lost mine after doing Medifast also...but it was in 1999 and I was being carefully monitored by a physician because back then you could not BUY Medifast online, etc. They warned me it could be a side-effect of losing weight but I was hoping to be one of the lucky ones. LOL. Oh well! At least I will never again feel that awful pain!

Sorry that it has to go. It usually does. :(

But as Laura pointed out you will be RID of that awful pain. My GB surgery (in 1999) was very easy, done laproscopically and once I was out of the anethesia fog and off the pain meds (percocet made me sick so I quickly went to Tylenol for pain) I felt much better. I think I had mine out on a Thurs. and was back at work on Mon? It's a fairly easy and quick surgery. I had mine at 8am and was home by noon. Good luck with everything, again, sorry it has to go.

I had my GB removed a couple of months ago and it was so much easier than the sleeve procedure. I had no pain and went to Las Vegas 2 weeks later. So happy they removed. I also got some good follow up information from the bariatric doc at Kaiser. Now I don't have to worry about having a GB attack.... :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
