Betsyjane 2 Posted May 2, 2007 I guess I feel like the time is right for me and OA. I'm at pretty much of a plateau and behaving badly. I think my next weight loss will be from fine tuning and getting really serious about everything....food, exercise, behavior, thoughts..... and if I struggle and get nowhere with that, I guess I need a fill, but I really don't think I do. barbara465 2 Posted May 2, 2007 Glad OA had a positive effect. I think I want to do it, but not at this time. Maybe as we get closer to summer. I have other things to work on for now, but I know the old habits were coming back for me as well. I got a .2 fill today so we'll see if this works for now. Interesting side note, doctor told me I was bulking up too much. Wanted me to walk and more cardio and no machines. I just smiled. He said I couldn't do machines until I lost the weight. He felt my arms as he was saying this. Now you know how that made me feel. One day at a time, one day at a time, one day ....
Betsyjane 2 Posted May 2, 2007 OK. Apart from how you felt :-) What do you think about his advice? Just curious.....
lanajane 0 Posted May 3, 2007 I like your new eating plan. I want that to work. Did any of you happen to catch Oprah today? She had a lady that used to weigh 550--had gastric bypass--lost 270 or something like that. She wrote a book on what happens after you lose weight and about how the food issue never goes away. She also talked about substituting another habit for food--hers was stealing.
Betsyjane 2 Posted May 3, 2007 I so want my substitute to be exercise. I know it won't be alcoholism. In the 60s I know what it would have been, but that was then and this is now. Stealing doesn't sound appealing....maybe compulsive shopping on ebay...... :-)
barbara465 2 Posted May 3, 2007 I don't think he has the answers. I think he says the same things over and over. He did tell me to eat more meat, have my thyroid checked, and walk and increase cardio. All that was good. I don't think Curves is hurting me. I don't think I'm building mass or bulk as he said. He did say I must be sensitive to fills. Duh. He did say until I lost the weight I shouldn't try to build mass (tone). I just listened, but I didn't believe all he said. I was strangely in a "better" place in my mind when I left. I think my own self resolve kicked in. I want to lose 15-20 lbs more. I would be happy with that. Betsyjane 2 Posted May 3, 2007 Sensitive to fills.... Doctor Understatement. If you ever feel like going for a walk on the trails in Kingwood or anywhere else and want company, call me! Or come over in grubby shoes and walk around the ranch with me. I'm not sure it's good exercise because I go slowly on uneven ground, but it's something. We can go wander and pet the mini horses. sure, it's across the lake, but just on a visit, you probably won't catch anything......
Betsyjane 2 Posted May 3, 2007 Maybe a walk around The Commons or old Humble...... I'd like to walk around Summerwood sometime too.
Betsyjane 2 Posted May 3, 2007 Can you tell I get ADD this time of night. I never used to be so unfocused before I got Lupus. Can't consolidate my thoughts to one post. This is true...There's a sign on my fence that says "They used to think I was ADD, but... Hey look. A chicken."
barbara465 2 Posted May 3, 2007 I would love to walk with you. I need to get into our Tai Chi routine. I hope that if I can't make a 5 class some nights that I can go later on Wednesday or Saturday. I will ask them Sat when I go to register. I have been so busy at work. I can bring some of it home which is good and I dont have to stay in town so late. I think its great you can post late in the evening. When I was at my worst with the CFS I was lucky if I knew my name at noon. :fish: By evening I was useless. I go to bed now at 9 as that is all I can take in one day.
Betsyjane 2 Posted May 4, 2007 That's nice of you to notice about the evening posts. My tiredness comes and goes during the day without any schedule...probably because I'm not out at work like you are. Some nights I'm awake with good energy, but more often I just can't sleep due to pain. Ha! Right now, I have little doggie campers all around my feet because of the thunder. I look like I have very big fuzzy slippers on my feet. Great! Let's walk after we get Tai Chi organized and it quits raining. I went over to sign up this morning. They only open at 1PM, so don't go early!
lanajane 0 Posted May 4, 2007 Are yall both buying a uniform? I was hoping we could just wear loose clothing. Still trying to decide if I can commit to Tai Chi now or if I should wait till next month. I want to walk too, don't forget about me.
barbara465 2 Posted May 4, 2007 What about the uniform? Did they make you get one? It doesn't mater to me as I have to change clothes from work. Just as well get into a black pair of PJs. Can we go to Humble Cafe afterwards dressed like that? :fish:
Betsyjane 2 Posted May 4, 2007 Oh, that's hilarious. And any bandster who doesn't Tia Chi and joins us for dinner will have to deal with the embarrassment of being with us. Lana, bikergrammy...come join!
