bikergrammy 0 Posted July 4, 2007 Happy 4th. Did any of you guys see our friendly Dr. on ch. 11 news last night at 10:00? Yes I talking about Mr. Felix Spiegel, M.D. There was a lady who was around 500lbs. and insurance would not cover her. So the good Dr did it for free. Can you believe that. He was all talking about how health was inportant and he was happy to be helping her. I think it was at the surgery center.
barbara465 2 Posted July 4, 2007 Can you hear me gagging? He got his payoff - advertising! I'm sorry I just don't think he does anything out of the goodness of his heart. I hope I'm wrong. Good for the woman though. Glad she got her lapband! How are you Suzanne. What's the next step in diagnosing the potasium?
bikergrammy 0 Posted July 5, 2007 My potassuim is like a dog chasing his tail. It started out at 6.2 and after all 5 test and 5 trips to Walgreens for meds it is now back up to 6.1 They are sending me to a kidney Specialist but I cannot get in into Aug 1st.Sorry to be talking all about my business when I know there are others out there with porblems of there own. Barbara thanks for asking.
Betsyjane 2 Posted July 5, 2007 Well, I guess if there,s good news, it's that they didn't think it was an emergency for you to see someone! I wonder what potasium levels and kidneys have in common. Did they give you any info about it?
bikergrammy 0 Posted July 5, 2007 From what I understand your kidneys normally excrete what porassuim you dont need from your body. I just hope it does not get any highter between now and Aug. 1st. I am trying not to eat things that I know is high in potassuim because I dont want to take the meds and have blood test every week until I can see the specialst
Betsyjane 2 Posted July 5, 2007 I'm certainly not an MD, and my experience is so tiny, so this is a long shot, but have they checked you for Lupus? I guess if you have Lupus SLE, you can also develop Lupus Nephritis....and having Lupus would certainly make you reeeaaaalllly tired.
Betsyjane 2 Posted July 5, 2007 Anybody going to the start of Tai Chi tonight at 7 at May Community?
lanajane 0 Posted July 5, 2007 Yes on the Tai Chi. I'm working on it. We keep Lindsey every Thursday (my granddaughter) and she has a lesson at 7:30pm. I've just got to see how to work that out. Are you going Betsy? How about Barbara--or are 3 lessons a week too much. You are probably way advanced by now. Suzanne--sure would like to see you there. Thanks for keeping us updated on your condition. Hope you are feeling better. Has anyone mentioned that tomatoes are high in potassium--most people don't realize they have as much as bananas. barbara465 2 Posted July 5, 2007 Glad you warned me!!!!!! Trash can full, but at least she has the band for whatever his motives. I can't do Tai Chi that many times a week! I have to leave room for Curves. However, I did neither this week. Have fun. Let me know how it is. I'm almost through the first program. I think I have to do 3 before getting tested for my belt. Or maybe I get tested after the 1st. Not sure. Did we decide to meet for dinner on Monday? Let me know.
Betsyjane 2 Posted July 5, 2007 Monday's good for me. I want to go to Tai Chi...and here I sit waiting for a dog owner who was supposed to be here at 5.... I'm gonna try, but if not, I'll start next week. Lana-if you're still around, will you tell Albert I'll definitely be there next week?
Betsyjane 2 Posted July 6, 2007 I called and left a message for Albert. The guy didn't come to pick up his dog until almost 9PM....airport delays due to the weather..... He looked exhausted! Are we doing Jade Palace Monday? Oddly, I haven't done a Chinese restaurant since I was banded. Thai...and buffet that gave me Thai selections... but not Chinese. Cool. Betsyjane 2 Posted July 6, 2007 By the way, I am so impressed with the Tony Horton Half Hour workout DVDs. Days when I can't get to the gym, I can actually pop one of thos ein and it keeps my interest and gives me a good workout. It's not workout to music, so I can put it in the ortable DVD and work out while watching TV...rather than veging out to watch a show. If any of you want to borrow one and see what they are like, let me know. Can I get the cookbook back, Barbara? I want to try a few more recipes. I know I know. You have your own in=house cook, bu tI am but a poor peon who must fend for herself. Sniff.
