East on 1960. Just before you get to La Villa, turn right at Walgreens (W Lake Houston Pkwy). Drive a few blocks and you'll see shopping strips on the right. I think it's the second one. There's a Forever Young MediSpa next to it.

Dick and I went there for dinner tonight. I had shrimp in a mango sauce. Dick had bean and beef in curry sauce. Both were good. Shrimp was in a sweet/sour sauce so it was good. Not hot at all. I even had a little bit of fried rice. Yum.

Betsyjane, I see you are a Dr. Spivak veteran. Your BMI also looks in the neighborhood of mind. How have you done since your banding? I anticipate surgery in mid-late May. Waiting for CIGNA response now.

Hey that's great! It's a wonderful journey to embark on. My weight loss has been in fits and starts as I learn new things....but my overall average weight loss has been just under 2 pounds a week. That's certainly a first for me! One of my odd benchmarks is t-shirt size, and I've dropped 4 t-shirt sizes. Are you coming to one of our meetings?

Do you mean Spivak's meetings on Tuesday? I will go to as many as I can. I live in Clear Lake so it's not 100% convenient, but I will try. How many folks show up generally?

Oh...I thought you were up here since you're in the Humble Kingwood group! I've only been to one Spivak meeting, and it was crowded...a full house. Lana and I went and I think we both got a lot out of it. But it's a long way for us too, so we'll go infrequently.

If you're ever up our way, come join us!

Hey Gang - I had to re-register with a different email address before the board would allow me to post... Don't know what in the world is up with that!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
