I always ask who is good at finding veins. There's a term for it, and I can't recall now ... like "good at a hard stick."

But I go to a hospital lab, and there is always an expert phlebotomist available. I usually ask and get him. I think he's the supervisor. Last time, he assured me someone else was "probably better than me." Not true, not even close! I'll make sure he does it next time.

Otherwise I get a huge hematoma on my arm that can take months to clear up. But of you insist, most of the time you can get a good phlebotomist. It's an inborn talent they have where, they can "feel" a good vein by touch only, even when they can't see it.

I've never let anyone do a blood draw from my hand. As a patient in the hospital, IVs are a problem. Most are too busy to care, so a quick stick is their goal. Last time I was in they put the IV in the crook of my arm. I couldn't use that arm for days until a compassionate nurse redid my IV.

So stand up for yourself, girls. It's worth it!

Wow yes this what always happens i always have to get ivs in my hand then after a couple days it'll go bad and they have to stick my other hand to get blood then both my hands wind uo swelling up and neither hand is useful anymore :( im going to try and ask for a person with a good stick bc i really have bad experiences with getting blind drawn and getting iv fluids for overnight stays.....even anesthesia unless its a gas mask is difficult......i don't have anymore blood to give but my egd is the 8th n that will cause for anesthetic so i hope i don't have to be stuck over and over bc i hate it:(

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
