VSGKasey 34 Posted April 26, 2013 Hello- I'm new here, my surgery is 4 days away and the last two days I've had a scratchy throat and a little popping in my ears. No coughing or nasal congestion, but I'm worried what will happen if I get more symptoms? Will they postpone? I think I might stave off this cold and will be drinking airborne until the day of surgery hoping to keep healthy. Also, I'm very scared of the surgery itself, it's become more real to me as the days approach. I keep telling myself I have had 3 surgeries in my life as well as given natural child birth, this should be a cake walk! But alas, I am still scared. Excited for the future, but worried. Any advice would REALLY help me out! Plus... I would like to meet my first fellow sleeve friends. . I'm 28, HW 240, CW 231, I have a three (almost 4 year old) daughter who is my best friend and who I'm hoping will also benefit from this surgery by learning a healthy way of life. jaxmama23 6 Posted April 26, 2013 Wow you took the post right out of my mouth! I have surgery this coming Monday and am having problems with my allergies and a somewhat dry scratchy throat. I'm hoping the dry scratchy throat is due to the dry air in my apartment because drinking Water almost always provides relief. If I blow my nose it's totally clear if anything comes out of it at all. I have worried too about surgery, for its pure allergies. I'm hoping there's some sort of allergy medicine I can take. My son is almost three and I am also hoping to set a healthy expletive for him. Height 5'5" weight before pre op diet 328. Has anyone else had allergy/throat issues before surgery? What was your experience?
VSGKasey 34 Posted April 27, 2013 Mine is now definitely a cold but I spoke to my nurse, she said as long as there isn't any swelling in my throat, no chest congestion and no fever and I can somewhat breathe out of my nose I should be okay. Crossing diners this is the worst of it and that I can heal in the next 72 hours!
