Need a fill or pouch stuffing?

Recommended Posts

I am having another fill on Monday but I'm really concerned that somethingn may be wrong. I have had good restriction up until 2 days ago. Now I am able to eat up to 2 cups of food. Could it be that some of my fill has dissolved? I don't feel like I am stuffing myself. It just feels like no restriction. How dangerous is it to overeat IF you can't feel the restriction. Could I stretch my pouch? Please advise.

carefull babe! don't over doit...the last thing you want to do is stretch your pouch...just try to make the best food choices you can between now and then...don't eat until you are stuffed...take it easy until you have an dr examine...

best wishes

:)

I am just like you...I cannot seem to get and keep restriction. I am currently at 1.8 in a 4cc band! That should be plenty but it is not, I can still hold 2 to 3 cups of food. I can... but I do not consume that much for fear of streching my band! Where o where is that so called SWEET SPOT I have read about?

Thanks for the input. I've been scared the last couple of days. I was able to eat 2/3 of a big filet mignon last night and today I was able to get down an entire 6" subway sandwich, bread and all. I just hope my band is okay. I go into the Doctor on Monday. I am really looking forward to speaking with him. Thanks fo the input. Glad to know I'm not alone.

You are definitely not alone. I have 1.9 cc in a 4 cc band and can 2 to 3 cups of food. I'm going for my second fill next week and hopefully that will do the trick.

2 to 3 cups of food does not indicate pouch stuffing unless it actually makes you feel stuffed. I can easily eat that quantity and just feel "satisfied" not stuffed and my doctor has no problem with that.

With that said, if you continue to eat beyond your limit and make yourself feel gross then yes, that is a problem. But, don't worry so much about quantity, especially if it is good, healthy food.< /p>

I had an instance when I had decent restriction, then magically, I didn't. I got an esophagram and I had mild dilation of the pouch. I had to eat REEEEALLY small for a while to get it back.

Try this....if you think you could have stuffed your pouch, try a week of eating super tiny meals. Have just a few bites then you know, you'll be hungry so eat only a few bites the next time you are hungry. Give it a week or so and see if there is any change.

Can't hurt either way to have tried it. If you are still having trouble, then maybe you need a fill.

I am happy to report I had a good doctors exam today. I am down 7 lbs since my last fill on 10/23. He took out all 2.7cc from the band and put in 3cc. He said that sometimes when you lose weight you actually lose weight inside the organs so that is why I lost my fill and needed it tighter. We are going to monitor things to make sure there is nothing wrong but I definitely felt restriction after receiving 3ccs today. Thank you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
