Recommended Posts

I will be having my surgery May 9th and my starting weight is 208 and I'm 5' feet tall. So I'm looking for someone that was around this size before surgery. Iam just curious to how small I might get if anybody can help thanks! :)

I started at 211 and I am 5' 2''. My surgery was 8/24/13. I am now 141 with a goal of 6 more pounds. I was a size 20 and I am now a size 8....moving soon to a 6. Very happy with the results.

That is a magic question. For me I feel very normal right now.....actually I even felt like a normal size at 165. According to the BMI charts normal is 105 to 135. No way in the world do i want to be 105 skinny. :-)

Just realized I said my surgery was in 2013. It was in 2012 obviously.

I am 5'2" also. My high weight was 257. My surgery weight was 241 on 2/4/13. Today I weigh 211. The doctor has not mentioned a goal weight by number to me, but it is obviously 135 because she talks to me about being a percentage toward an unstated goal and 135 is around the top end of normal BMI for someone of my height. I can remember weighing that much in my twenties so I know that would be an appropriate weight for me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
