Hola from TJ 3 days post op with Dr Kelly pics

Recommended Posts

Me, Dr Kelly and my mother after my leak test at Angeles. He and his wife are both very warm, huggy people. A lot of Drs in the states barely touch you but they are the type to naturally put their arm on your shoulder and talk to you close together. I love that. It tells me a lot about a health care practitioner or person in general.

I was so nervous about everything. I think every day was a new reason for panic lol. I'm day 6 post op and feel great!!!! I only ate 400 calories today and I'm going to try to make it up by drinking juice over the next few hours (I took a 5 hour nap lol) and get to 600. It's a crazy feeling. That would have been half my midnight snack pre op!

Oh you sure aren't. I second guessed myself up until the anesthesiologist said ok ok bye by :)

A week post op tomorrow and I can barely tell

I had surgery. Seriously, calm yourself. I wish I had ;)

Here is a picture of Cecy, Dr Kelly's wife (who will take you to/from airport, hospital, hotel Eric) and my mother. My mom is a breast cancer survivor and Cecy picked us up an hour early for the airport so she could take us to the cancer survivors park by the airport as a surprise. She is an absolute doll.

ARRGGHH. I hate auto correct. I meant to say "sure you are" not aren't lol! And I meant to say hotel etc, not hotel Eric lol.

That is so neat. I am also a breast cancer survivor of 2 years this June. This is one of the reasons for this surgery as being obese ups the chance of cancer returning much more than being a healthy weight.

It's a beautiful park close to the San Diego airport. If you have a way there I'd highly suggest seeing it. It's a beautiful experience. It was a wonderful surprise from Cecy, Dr Kelly's wife.

I LOVE YOUR STORY! Thank you! I'm 3 months post op from Florida and did wonderful but I was a lucky one to have my insurance cover my surgery but I love reading the TJ stories. I'm also a medical professional so I understand everything you were talking about! You are awesome girl! Love the pics! My question is this.....I know I will need some plastic work done in a year or two. You said Cecy knows some doctors. Do they have the same loving care and concern for their patients as dr Kelly does? Will she give us names so we can research as well? I know my insurance won't cover that so I am looking to go to MX for that work. Thanks so much! You rock!!!

Thanks for all the kind words! That's awesome your insurance covered it!

I'll PM you Dr Kelly's personal email, I've heard they have very good suggestions for body work as well as who to stay away from. I read on this board once someone ignored the who to stay away from suggestion and suffered greatly. Maybe someone will know what I'm talking about because that was still in my research phase.

Just a quick FYI, there is a local plastic surgeon in my area (about 1 hr sw of Pittsburgh) that is amazing. He's done work in a lot of my friends and it was better than work I've seen from big time pgh surgeons. His name is Dr Meuller at Wheeling Hospital. He specializes in abdominoplasty and skin lifts. His prices are very good, not any more than TJ surgeons but of course he would require an in person consult and could take as long as 3 months to schedule the surgery. He's awesome, I've worked with him on a professional level also way back in the day.

I'm going to get veneers at the dentist Cecy suggests a year from my surgery. It's about 1/3 of the price of anything here I can find.

That's very cool. I'm originally from the Cleveland area and myninnkaws live in Johnstown. I have family in Bridgeville too. I know Wheeling from Oglebay. Go there every year with the girls for a girls week away!!!!! I live in Florida but I'm in your area once a year. Thanks for the tips. The plastic doctors in Florida want mucho dinero!!!

I don't know if the recovery in Tijuana or Wheeling would be worse for an out of towner lol. They both have their points. I guess I'd have to look at the Hospitals available in TJ before I made my decision living where you do. I'll definitely be having my lifts in Wheeling. Wheeling Hospital is a really big metro hospital with 5 large towers and a main building. They do open heart surgery, etc etc.

I've just seen people recover from tummy tucks and it looks horrid. Drains everywhere and not being able to stand upright for a week plus. I wanna be close to home ;) although I wouldn't have had my sleeve in Wheeling if they would have paid me. There are some surgeons and some not so good ones around here ;) The plastics is better than anything in Pgh or Columbus (I'm kinda in between) that I can find and super cheap.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
