tamarlarae 11 Posted April 25, 2013 Hi all! My insurance only required me to get a letter from my PCP and a psych eval to do surgery. Got the psych eval done yesterday and my letter from my PCP a few weeks ago. I called this morning to find out if they have received everything to submit to insurance. I didn't hear anything today. Do you think I should be "that person" and call again tomorrow? I really need to have this surgery this summer otherwise I'll have to wait till NEXT summer... I live in AZ and am being sleeved at BGMC if any if you are familiar with it. Any advice??
makemyownluck 785 Posted April 25, 2013 YESS!!!!! Call them twice a day if you need to. They are working FOR YOU! I mean, be polite and patient, but don't ever hesitate to call when you need something. 2 Muslim_amy and mysleevemylife reacted to this
SqueakyWheel&Ethyl 160 Posted April 25, 2013 Let me introduce myself. I'm Squeaky Wheel. Otherwise known as "THAT PERSON." Had I not been That Person, I would have never had my surgery. Nobody CARES about your needs but you. You don't have to be mean. But, you MIGHT have to be assertive. Look at it this way. You're playing their game by their rules and doing everything expected of you to get approval. The insurance company works for your company. They are expected to do their job. If their rules states you qualify, and you have met all the criteria (their rules again), then they are expected to respond in a timely manner. So BE That Person. And Rock On. 1 belladona reacted to this
No game 14,437 Posted April 25, 2013 If you just got your psych evaluation yesterday, it may take a few days for him or her to write up your report? Or do did they give you clearance right then and there?
tamarlarae 11 Posted April 25, 2013 Thanks ladies. I am worried because it sounds like there are quite a few processing problems with the CCs there :-( Laura- I went to the same location I'm having my surgery (BGMC) so it would be processed that day. I had to wait a month for the appointment, but I figured it'd be worth it so I could get everything done more quickly and then things couldn't be "lost" when faxing things.
