Omg Nate! That went by quick!

The only thing I can say is be prepared, the liquid diet is not easy.. I felt weak dizzy tired and just knew that I would LITERALLY die from starvation :P

But that was just the first three days. It did get easier after that though.

As for shakes I really like the premier ready made Protein Shakes you can buy them at costco and SAMs club.

My advice is DON'T CHEAT! If you stick with the diet after three or four days the mad-crazy hunger will reduce and you'll feel a LOT better. You might even think you have the flu... or you'll die from weakness or hunger.. But you wont, I promise.

Also, start drinking some Protein Drinks now to get used to them.

If you're allowed coffee, a scoop of Isopure vanilla creme powder or jay robb vanilla powder, 1/3 cup milk and 12 ounces of coffee.. Mix the milk with about half a cup of coffee.. add the Protein powder... stir.. add the rest of the coffee.. enjoy. You're welcome!

Remember that you WILL eat all your favorite foods again. Don't panic about that. Just enjoy the process and keep reminding yourself WHY you're doing this. You got this!

That's what I had to do too! Some lucky dogs get a little bit of food...

I don't know how many shakes you get a day, but drink them all!

And I always have a harder time at night so I saved one for then..

This scares me too! I have to do Optifast which is 4 shakes and either a broth or a bar for 6 days and 1 day Clear Liquids. We will survive! Good luck!

If I can do it anyone can do it!! :P

But really look at it like this this, the pre op is not just a "diet" this is what needs to be done for a safe surgery. That's what kept me going, knowing that I had to do it for "real" medical reasons.

You guys will do great :)

Freezing your Protein shakes might help too. I also did Powerade zero - froze them and cures the need for crunch, and sugar free Popsicles were my life saver. So if your doctor says those are ok - those things really helped me especially at midnight lol night time was hard for me too.

As for Protein powder - I used Body Fortress and mixed with skim milk or Water. I did use Water for 6 days after surgery because I had to reintroduce milk. Tolerated it fine though.

& good luck! I was also one of the unfortunate pre-oppers that was on full liquids! I would have knocked someone over for a celery stalk lol! Don't regret it at all!

I used Syntrax Nectar shakes - fruit flavors for something other than vanilla and chocolate. Google BJs Bariatrics and you can "make your own" sample pack out of the flavors. Totally saved me for my 3 week post-op liquid phase!

chocolate Splendor from Unjury is amazingly good! Tastes just like chocolate milk.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
