gagirl0583 10 Posted April 24, 2013 I completely understand! I was doing great! I had lost 25lbs since January. I was ready for my appointment; went for pre-op in March and they informed me insurance said I had to have 6 months of weight in visits! I think I went into upset eating mood! I was doing good; but got so upset! I am slowly getting back into the pre-op diet. I agree if I could control my eating I would not need surgery to help me! I gained 5lbs in 3 weeks. I am getting back on my diet; just taking it slow; because I can't stress and if I do; I will stress and eat more! You are not alone; and this group is awesome and will help you though this! Just remember you CAN do this!!
makemyownluck 785 Posted April 25, 2013 I cheated plenty in my pre-op diet. But I wasn't required to be on one for insurance and didn't have to do weigh ins, so it wasn't a big deal to me to lose as much as I could as quickly as I could, either. I was just trying to lose before surgery to be safer/that much closer to goal. But my diet allowed one "cheat" meal per week. It helped me to ward off cravings when I knew I had a "cheat" meal on its way... but I still caved when I felt like it. I told myself "I should have this now because I can't have it after surgery..." more than I should have! But since I've been on the pre-op liquid diet, I haven't cheated. I have my eye on the prize. One week down, one week to go! This time next week, I'll be sleeved!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't beat yourself up over cheating! It's natural - we're big folk, we like to eat! Just try to do better next time... cuz there will be a next time... & remember, just cuz you cheated doesn't mean you have to finish what you started. Stop at one bite of that candy bar (or whatever you cheat-eated, lol). Enjoy the cheat and move on -- being upset with yourself will only make you feel guilty, which will make you want to eat. I'm still struggling but I'm DETERMINED to get on track and NOT CHEAT on the liquid phase. I've got only a few days till my 2 week liquids start!!
Karmen081020 31 Posted April 26, 2013 I'm also struggling with my pre-op diet, my doctor said no surgery until I lose 10 pounds ! My former NUT (not going back ever again) told me to drink ensure to help me lose weight! Needless to say I gained weight so not only struggling with my mental hunger but also with the gained weight. My BF bought me a bunch of Protein Shakes today so I can try different ones I also work in a very stressful environment and like you said it will not disappear after the surgery. You are not alone, hang in there!
