erikh 2 Posted April 23, 2013 I have been approved for surgery but I am still not 100% I want to do it. After I was approved they e-mailed me and asked what day I wanted to have the surgery. They did not even mention a pre op appointment. This made me even more nervous than I as before about the surgery. I told them there was no way I was scheduling the surgery without talking with the doctor again. I have read many good things about the surgeon, and a few things that concern me. I have some questions that I want to ask, but I am looking for others that I may not of thought of. Thank you all in advance.
FindingElise 62 Posted April 24, 2013 Hi, Erikh. Your surgeon should have no problem letting you make an appointment and discussing your concerns with you. You might want to make a list of the things that concern you and bring it to your appointment, and just read the items off one by one. If you have any comorbidies, or have had abdominal surgeries in the past, there are lots of things you'll probably want to ask related to that. Some things I asked were... 1. How long is the actual surgery? 2. How long will I be in the hospital? 3. What are the most common complications you encounter with surgeries you've performed? 4. What can I do now to make my recovery easier? 5. How will the sleeve affect future pregnancies? (And a lot of discussion about pregnancy-related stuff). 6. When can I start doing laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning, and basically living life like a normal person? 7. When do I need to stop taking certain meds, and could I continue taking certain meds after surgery? I hope that helps! Best of luck to you!
