From what I've heard and talked about with my surgeon it's because your skin needs a year to catch up and then they want to see 6 months of weight stability after that. I'm starting saving and researching now though. My son just turned a year old and believe me 1 year is NOT long at all when you are busy.

You don't want to get it done too early and loose more weight then have more loose skin. My doc said wait to be stable for 6 months before even thinking about a lift.. I'm not thinking about it anyway.. That operation makes me think of a scene out of the movie SAW.. lol I may change my mind if at goal I am unhappy. Who knows..

Who are you looking at? And where does one even start this research?

I have not waited for any of my surgeries and have had excellent results. They say to go with 20 pounds of your goal because if you are having excess skin removed will result in a weight loss and also you may need the fat to move into another part of your body(think: into your butt). I say go for it you won't regret it!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
