Just exactly how much of which vitamins are recommended?

Recommended Posts

I take Biotin, Centrum silver (for the record I am only 43 :) B12 and Vitamin D. I honestly have no idea how much I am supposed to take. I just take them. I asked the nut she told me to ask the surgeon..

Anyone know what we are supposed to take. I am most curious about the Biotin because my pills are 7500 mcg..per tablet.

Thanks,

J

There is no set answer here. Everyone is going to have different needs for Vitamins and minerals, just like they do in everyday life. It is going to depend on your body type, you current weight and the eating plan that your nutritionist has worked out for you. Your nutritionist is correct, this is something that is best answered by your Dr. Most Drs. want you to get your nutritional needs without supplements, but that isn't always the case when you are restricted intake wise. So it is possible that you may need more supplements if you are on liquids only, and less if you are on purees and solid foods.

between my Doctor and nutritinist we were told different things with Vitamins. So I am 7months after my surgery & I currently take;

2 Gummy Multi Vitamins 2x a day

calcium citrate 1/day

B-12 complex 1/day

Potassium 1/day

Vitamin A & D 1/day

Fish Oil 1/day

recently went to my Regular doctor he ran test & told him what I take(he is a former athlete and sports medicine Dr.), He told me you really cant not have to many Vitamins in your system... All my test came back great.

I take Celebrate Multivitamin ONE time a day and Iron once a day (most but not all days).

I was taking Biotin, but my last two blood tests have shown my Vitamin B levels were much higher than they needed to be, so I stopped taking it at the suggestion of my surgeon.

I don't take Calcium because I eat a lot of calcium-enriched foods.

When I first had surgery, they recommended I take a Multivitamin twice a day, calcium at least twice a day and Iron twice a day. I never did twice a day.

With the sleeve, we don't have problems with malabsorption, so we can get nutrients normally.

Though YMMV (your mileage may vary), my nutritionist told me

1 Centrum chewable a day,

1 Vitamin B1 (100mg) a day,

1 B12 (500 mcg) a day,

1 Vitamin d3 (1000 iu a day),

calcium citrate w/ Vitamin D (1000mg a day/1500 for women),

Vitamin C - 250mg a day -

note, these need to be chewable, sublingual, or liquid.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
