How has everyone been lately?

I have a discomfort-like pain on my left side where my spleen is. That area aches at night time when I am lying down. I think that it still may be a bit tender there.

Oh one day on my left side for hours I had that pain.. Someone said Constipation possibly? I had diarrhea (sorry lol) the next day and it seemed to clear me out and that pain has not been back.

Cindy, so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. That will be playing with your hormones no end, so don't worry about the 12lbs. Just let your body recover from the double whammy you've just had and I'm sure weight loss will take care of itself very nicely.

My Dr has me on "runny" liquids for another 2 days and then can go on purées for a couple of weeks. I think soft foods "mashed" is ok after that. So it seems he's more cautious than many. But I've been able to have some nice Soups, diet jelly and have sneaked in quite a lot of low fat natural yoghurt too. All without problems, as long as I go slow and sit up straight.

I've had a bit of pain around some incisions, firstly around the one my stomach was pulled through (low right) and more recently low left. I'm thinking the latter pain is Constipation, despite sticking Benefiber in everything and drinking a V8 vegie juice a day. Took Movicol today but not sure how effective it is when sipped over the course of an hour...

Have lost just over 10kg from start of pre-op diet, which I think is around 22 lb. Perhaps 12-14lb since the actual op. Already can see and feel a real difference. Yahoo!

Not doing a lot of exercise except gentle walking... Hopefully things will really kick off when I get back to exercising. Fingers crossed xxx

In Total, 35 lbs have been lost. Since my surgery about 12 lbs.

I too am on runny/full liquid diet until May 16. Then I can moved into pureed. Today I was able to have thinned cream of wheat. I was happy to eat something other than Soup. Although I will mention that I have been having some very delicious Soups.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
