Calling all slowish losers--please post your losses so far!

Hi!!

Surgery date 2-14-13(@10 weeks)

Pre op/pre 2 week liquid diet: 319

Date of surgery/2week liquids: 303

Current: 272

47# total/31# post surgery

Down 2 pant sizes and 1 shirt size.

I try to get to the gym 1-3 times a week depending on my hours. I do Water classes and ride bike and weights.

I take:

-2, 000 mg vit d3 w/vit c (I'm deficient)

-1, 500 mg calcium citrate (chewy bites)

-Sublingual B 12

-Super b complex (yucko)

-2 Flintstone chewable daily vits

-actigal ( anti gall stones)

-omperazole (acid reducer)

I am staying around 700 calories a day.

Eating 60-80 gram Protein including 1-3 shakes a day (syntrax nectar)

Drinking at least 64oz at home and close to a gallon at work.

As if to illustrate what I posted last night: I have been stalled for at least a week and posted last night that I was 214. I got up this morning and weighed and I am at 211. I love my sleeve.

4 weeks out (surgery date 3/25)

Down 15 lbs (only weigh once a week on Monday's)

Started at 247

Weight on Monday was 232

I'm 5'8"

Started exercising last week. 20 min elliptical 3 times/week, working myself up

Average 600 - 800 calories a day and at least 64 oz Water

I take all of this twice a day: generic Prilosec, Centrum chewable, B complex, and calcium citrate gummies

Sleeved 4/1 so I'm 3 1/2 wks post op

When I made my decision I was 278

Surgery day I was 248

Today I'm 237.5 (but I feel like I gained :-() I'm weigh my self every Saturday

I've only lost about 10 lbs post op :-(

Not a "slow" loser but had a 2 week stall at 4 weeks.

Surgery date: 3/11/13

Wl since surgery: 29 lbs

BMI: 48

Height: 5'

Age: 66

Exercise: walking brisk pace .5 to 1 mile 6 days a week

Take all supplements including Actigall, Vit D, B12, Omaprazole,and Calcium

I really don't have any stats to add because I don't think I was a slow loser' date=' but you touched on something....most people here do think they are a slow loser, and half of them are wrong. I don't think the fast losers are more vocal necessarily....look at all the "why am I a slow loser" threads. It's just that it only takes 1 thread about someone losing 100 pounds in 3 months to wipe out 50 threads about losing 2 pounds a week.

It's just like people's opinions about why we really don't need WLS in the first place. They heard on the news about 1 guy who lost 200 lbs through diet and exercise and they think we all can do it. They don't realize or acknowledge that 1 guy was 1 in 10,000. It's the same here with the fast weight loss threads. 99% of the time the really fast weight loss people were like me...VERY obese so we had more to lose. The more you have the faster it's going to come off.

My long winded point is 90% of the people on this site are losing at a healthy sustainable pace and should be happy with that, not feel like they are failing because the pace is slower than someone else.[/quote']

22 pounds lost. I feel like a very slow loser. Gym 3-4 days a week. I'm getting in all Protein and staying low in carbs as per Nut. The scale moved once in about 3 weeks. I'm grateful but disappointed in the same

Starting weight 216.6

Current weight 190.3

I feel like I'm losing sooooo incredibly slow. But I've never been able to say I've lost 26 pounds in 2 months so I'm trying to stay positive. I must admit I haven't been super diligent about working out. I eat approx 700 calories a day. I'm having a bit of a hard time adjusting to food. Still learning what my new stomach won't throw up. Yuck. I recommend taking photos. When you aren't seeing progress on the scale, it helps to see inches lost (unfortunately I didn't take my measurements so I've been using photos).

Pre-surgery weight (before two week low carb diet) - 214

Surgery date 4-8-13

Starting weight 201

Current weight 183

Very happy with my weight loss. I feel like a new woman! It has ALWAYS been a matter of starving myself to loose weight only to cave to extreme hunger pains and gain it all back plus some. Slow and steady weight loss is fine (and healthy). I am six weeks out and had no stalls. Getting between 600-700 cals per day. Definitely found working out on my elliptical helped move the scale when my weight loss was getting super slow. My nutritionist is happy and so am I! :D

Just wanted to offer some encouragement to you slower losers. I have heard many professionals in my program say that when you lose it a little slower, it is less likely to come back! So keep up the good work!!

Todays Weight: 195.2

Lost most of the weight the first week and this past week. Only lost about 3 lbs those 2 weeks in between and was beginning to feel like it wouldn't happen but sure enough I finally started to drop this past week!

Todays Weight: 195.2

Lost most of the weight the first week and this past week. Only lost about 3 lbs those 2 weeks in between and was beginning to feel like it wouldn't happen but sure enough I finally started to drop this past week!

Also,

Exercise: Walking 4X week, plus slowly adding in free weights.

Calories: 800

Protein: 60g

Water....not enough but I'm working in it!

I definitely think that tracking my food and exercise are key for me.

Heya. I am coming up on 21 weeks post surgery, this Friday. I have lost 39lbs. Averages to fewer than 2lbs/week. My loss has slowed to 1lb a week and I haven't hit 5 months yet. I was 250 day of surgery. I lost very little pre op, about 6 lbs on a 10 day liquid diet. I lost 8 lbs the first week and then settled into a 1-2 lbs loss weekly thereafter.

I started at a BMI of 48.4 from my highest weight. Day of surgery 44.3, currently at 211 lbs I have a BMI of 37.4. To be at a normal, healthy BMI I will have to lose 70 more lbs. So in about 5 more lbs I will be halfway there.

I started in 20/22 jeans and pants, size 18 dresses, XL tops. Currently in size 16/18 jeans, size 14 pants (mostly, some 14's are small) and size L tops, size XL or 12 dresses.

If it wasn't for inch loss and being able to wear smaller clothes I'd be way more depressed about my slow loss.

Ok, time for a reality check people! :) And I mean this with all kindness and support, but some of you need to put the disappointment and negativity in the closet and lock it away. Think of this...how many times in your life have your consistently lost even ONE pound/week without feeling like it was the hardest thing to do? And as soon as you let up just a little, that 1lb/week weight loss was right back!!!

I know pre-op and post-op eating phases aren't easy, but the weight loss IS happening and faster than anything pre-WLS. So ENJOY!

I'm only 1 day post-op, but I had the LapBand in 2006. With the band, it can take more than 6 weeks for ANY real loss because you have to wait for the first adjustment. Then it really is 1-2 lbs per week for most people. I lost 85 lb in 1 YEAR and was thrilled because it wasn't "that" hard to do, it was relatively consistent and it stayed off for over 5 years.

Now that I have the sleeve, I plan on going home and following my NUT's instructions and staying OFF the scales. Because I know that if I follow the guidelines, eat right, and exercise (at least some), the weight WILL come off. And since the past 2 years I've consistently fought an UPHILL battle again with the scale numbers slowing creeping UP, any DOWN movement will be wonderful.

So I understand the desire to get the weight off fast...but just LIVE YOUR LIFE, people! :) Just enjoying doing things you couldn't do at your highest weight, adventure, etc....as long as you're happy while you're losing weight, you're already a winner!

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
