legalbeauty 0 Posted April 23, 2013 I had my initial appointment about two weeks ago and I feel that I'm at a standstill as my doctor informed me that I should to bring my bmi below 60 for surgery. Instead of loosing weight I've 6lbs!! At this point I'm beyond frustrated!! Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the purpose of the gastric sleeve/bypass was to help people with a bmi over 60 loose. I've seen people have these surgeries with bmi's higher than mine, I don't know I should do!!!!
Veruca Salt 31 Posted April 23, 2013 I would get a second opinion. There are surgeons out there with more experience with higher bmi. They will ask you to lose some weight 10 or 20 lbs but nothing major. Good luck to you.
legalbeauty 0 Posted April 23, 2013 Thank you so much! I was told to the risks were higher for someone with a bmi of over 60. Mine is 69, I'm down 42lbs. I thought these surgeries were designed for people with a bmi of over 60.
