Is it really a good idea to introduce botulism to a body that is recovering from a major surgery?

I'm actually interested in Restylane or Juvaderm for the hollows under my eyes.

Oh ok.. Ya skeered me there! It definitely won't work for those who have a rough recovery' date=' I guess. From what I read there are quite a few who are feeling awful and would not even be able to make it around TJ let alone off to another dr appt.

I feel VERY fortunate[/quote']

There isn't much "healing" from Botox is there? I figure ill be relaxing for a few days and having naps Inbetween my walks so it would be a good time to try?? In Nz it's around $600/$700 too. I'm doing single incision so I should be up for a short cab ride. Surgery sat - book it for Wednesday? Leaving TJ Thursday

If this is your first time experimenting with Botox, you shouldn't do it simply because you could be allergic to it and the warning signs of an allergic reaction are pretty close if not identical to things you may experience after your surgery. For example: nausea, Diarrhea, stomach pain, pain spreading to your arm or shoulder, fever, cough, flu like symptoms....these could also point to a problem with your sleeve. How will you be able to pin point the source of the problem?

I would rather combine what I can while I'm down there because I don't plan on going back so since its cheaper for fillers etc. down there then I want to go ahead and get it all at one time.

I get scared about the fillers while losing weight, what about if your face gets super skinny those fillers take about a year to go away and then you have a lumpy face maybe I'm paranoid lol I'm not getting Botox or fillers until I'm at goal which is in about 30 lbs

Well..dang! I guess I'm a fortunate person. No pain or issues with my surgery and then got Botox without any pain or issues and couldn't even tell I got it until I looked in mirror. I am humbled for sure.

My dermatologist in the states Dr Kim here in Tacoma would disagree with you on that.

Do you think we have to get an appointment? Or could you call them up if everything is going great get in pretty quickly? I don't want to take a bunch of cash with out a reason. But I would do botox! Is there a way to have a skin prick and then wait 24 hours (like hair color) to see if one is allergic? What a great idea.

I'm sure they will get you in if you decide you want it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
