Anyone ever notice that its next to impossible to find REAL food out there - you know, meat, vegetables, etc? Everywhere you go, if its fast, it's crap! Looking for a fast place to eat tonight and the only thing that came to mind was Boston Market! Any other ideas out there?

It's no wonder everyone is fat!

YES! Never noticed it so much until post surgery!! When desperate I will get a chicken soft taco no lettuce from Taco Bell and only eat the chicken and cheese inside (usually 2 tacos). It's fast and everyone around me enjoys it. Check fil a also has chicken tortilla Soup (it's pretty good) and they have grilled chicken fingers and they are not bad either. Thats really all I have found....Good luck! It's rough out there!!!!!

That's what I had for dinner. Three piece dark, garlic lemon spinach, sweet potatoes (no cornbread). I brought home almost all the side dishes and two pieces of chicken. Should feed me for the next two days.

There's plenty of places in the world (Asia comes to mind) where on any given day you can find vendors on the street serving grilled seafood, chicken, various k-bobs of grilled meats and veggies, but just try to find that kind of food quick here in suburban America - it doesn't really exist here. but you can surely find Sonic, McDonald's, and fried chicken on every street corner - never really noticed that until post sleeve, either!

I was reminded of this, too, after spending almost a month in Thailand late last year. And yes, my husband and I *do* eat street food there, regardless of the fear mongers who say you should not. Guess what - the only time I've ever been sick from food when traveling it wasn't street food, but food from an airport restaurant. It was amazing how well-behaved my blood sugar was even with all the noodles and rice in the diet, too.

I eat at a local Mexican take out that has chicken tacos. I just eat the insides and not the shell. I've thought about El Pollo Loco but haven't tried it yet. I am in So Cal. Hopefully they'll have something similar near you! Good luck!

If you have a boston market near you they have a lot of healthier choices.

I have been getting fat free deli meats to hold me over and making rolls with meat cheese and mustard.

Wendy's chili is great..

Plug in your zip code and it suggests restaurants as well as some healthy options with nutritional facts and how to order.

Somebody suggested Taco Bell pintos and cheese, then having them add a serving of chicken on top... That sounded great to me.

Utah is the worst. It has more fast food restaurants per capita than any other state which is awful. As a busy nursing student & mom sometimes it can be so hard to eat healthy on the go!

Fast food is a hard one... I mean even if something seems like it might be healthy, it still so processed it doesn't even taste like real food.

Its more likely some weird food stuff molded into a shape with salt up the wazoo! Now don't get me wrong my weakness is is salty French fries YUM :o

On this board we love to go after the person who ate a fast food burger... But really if you think about it, its no worse than the other stuff there.

I have had fast food once since surgery. I went to carls junior and ordered a "low carb burger"

It's a burger without the bun, messy but good.

Oh and it lasted several meals, that sucker was big!

Side note it was a treat it tasted good but my stomach was not used to it I think and I got a good clean out, so know I know what to do next time I'm constipated :P

Qdoba and Chipotle both have Naked Burrito bowls and salads with grilled chicken or steak; if you decide on the bowl you just skip the rice and load up on meat, Beans, salsa, corn, pico, a little cheese and you're good. There is a spicy vinaigrette for the salad that is awesome at Chipotle. Chik Fil A 4 piece grilled kids meal with a side of fruit or any of their salads with grilled chicken and low-fat dressings are my other go to. Panera has a "hidden menu" with low carb options (google it to see the choices) but even their regular salads and half salads are great.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
