Hi,

I am doing well but have one problem that I can't seem to manage. I am 4 months out and really close to goal. My seat or butt that I sit on, hurts. It is the skin kind of where my top of my thigh and my rear meet. At first I thought it was from very loose clothes rubbing when I walked, it is where my panty leg is but the area is about the size of my hand on each leg. It is where I sit on and the skin is very dry. I am putting lotion on it at least twice a day. I get up and walk regularly so that I am not sitting for prolonged periods of time. But the skin isn't getting better and it is sore to sit on. Yeah, it is a strange problem and embarrassing. I am thinking I never had this before and had a lot more weight and on the same area. So why does it hurt now?? I do have a lot of wrinkly skin at different areas, kind of the prune look. So any ideas would be welcome cause this is annoying me and I have run out of ideas.

Try one of those gel seat cushions. Like the kind people with wheelchairs use.

Or if your office will allow one of those giant balls.

Or you can try one of those inflatable donuts.

maybe you need to wear Spanx or something to keep the loose skin from rubbing. As for the dry skin, I find using Vitamin e oil helps my skin a lot. You can find a small bottle of it in the vitamin section. I find it keeps my skin hydrated very well. Also, make sure you are drinking enough fluids...this will help with dry skin also....good luck.

Have you been to Dr to determine if it's not a fungal infection etc?

Hmm, hadn't even thought of that. Thanks for taking the time to write.

Thanks for taking the time to write, I appreciate it! I don't know about spanx, they don't sound comfortable and I live in the south so how cool are they? I am good about watching my fluids but you have given me some things to consider. I will keep all these ideas in mind and trying working on this with the new information.

This was my first thought. If the skin itself is irritated, you should get it checked out by the doctor.

I agree with the suggestion to visit the dr. Could be nothing, but it could also be some sort of infection setting in. Good luck!

I will go to the doctor. Parts of it is red, more so at times. I kept telling myself it was just really dry skin but it should be checked out. Thanks!! So glad I posted and got other views.

I went to see my primary doctor and she said it was a yeast infection in the wrinkles of my skin from losing weight. I was putting lotion on it and that wasn't helping the situation but helping the yeast grow. She gave me a prescription cream to use for 2 weeks. It still is sore but she said it should help.

I know this was sort of an embarrassing thing to share but thank you so much. Might help someone out who ends up with the same problem.

Hope your butt gets to feeling better soon :P

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
