How much weight loss?

Recommended Posts

I am almost 4 weeks post op and I am disappointed with my weight loss. I am only losing about 2 pounds per week. I was under the impression from my doctor that it would come off quicker than that. I am only eating very small portions with no snacking and trying to get the Water in. How much do you average? Thanks!

I was averaging 8 / week but the last week was more like 2-5. I also had about 140lbs to drop so it's going to come off quicker at first, plus men generally lose quicker from what I see.

As long as it's coming off, that's what matters.

You are about the same starting weight as me. I lost 20# before surgery, and now I am down about 44# since surgery. Total if 65# since I began this journey in Oct. 2012. You are on the lower end of the scale so we don't loose as quickly as someone who weighs much more than you. I am losing only 1/2 to 1# a week. Sometimes nothing for two weeks, but it has still been coming off little by little and no gaining. You also loose inches instead of weight, I am down from an 18 to an 8! I still have 29# to go. It will come off just give it time.

P.S. I am not the best excersizer:)

I am 3 weeks post op and have lost .2 lbs, so... it could be far worse ;) My NUT said it should usually be 3-5lbs per week.

I'm also 3 weeks post op, I've only lost 9 pounds, and have gained the past 2x I've weighed. Im also very disappointed. Averaging 60-70 grams of Protein a day, and approx 800 calories, just not too good about getting all my fluids in, but surely that's not why I'm not losing.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
