Thank you, I guess was feeling down. I have never lost this much and kept it off. So I will try to stay positive and stay on track.

I've been sleeved for eight weeks and so far lost 16lbs. I'm okay with that. I had lost 48lbs before I had the surgery so I knew my initial weight loss was going to be slower. (no big initial drop) So 36lbs is awesome! Celebrate and enjoy.

5+ lbs a week is NOT a slow loss. It is an extremely rapid loss. I know we want the weight to disappear overnight, but it just doesn't work like that. What I wouldn't give to lose 5 lbs a week!!

I think this is key, we didn't gain the weight overnight so were not going to lose it overnight

5#/week is NOT SLOW! Don't let anyone convince you otherwise! We have the opportunity of a lifetime to make changes that will last for a LIFETIME. What a great time to focus on fixing our relationship with food and ensuring that we never go back! I'm sure it took more than 6 weeks to gain it, so I would be more than happy with the loss! I've lost 24 in 11 weeks, so you're blowing me (and most people) out of the Water. Just because those of us who lose at a more moderate pace don't post about it doesn't mean that you're alone! As you can see from my numbers, you are far from slow!

I was sleeved on 3/20. I've only lost 13 lbs since that day. So I'm feeling your pain. My family/people who know that I had the surgery are constantly asking me why I'm not losing more weight. It's nerve-wracking, I understand.

I was hoping that was not the case but 6 weeks tomorrow and only down 32lbs I'm kinda depressed. I stay on track calorie wise and most days get all my Protein in and liquids not issue. I am starting exercise today.. Couldn't until now besides walking. I go up and down on the scales' date=' no stalls just up and down the same pound then lose then start process again on the next pound. I guess I was hoping for more and to look better but instead I still look awful and always feel like I should be eating less.[/quote']

Um wtf - ive been losing 1-3 lbs a week since the start of month 2... 3 1/2 months in now. Be happy w the 5+ lbs a week.

The nurse at my surgeon's office said you typically average .5-1 pound a day in the very beginning, but remember we are not always "typical" so don't sweat it!

The slower you lose, the tighter your skin will be. I think it's a positive.

Hey Brandy! We have almost the same stats.

I am also 5'7 and my sw was 259

I am now at 232

Surgery date 2-27

I feel like a slow looser, but we are not. We are middle of the road above average.

I could do more to increase my loss.

And the window of opportunity is now, from what I have read, a year from now our restriction isnt as good as it is the first 1-8 months.

So with that in mind, almost 8 weeks in for myself, I am going to start "steering this boat" lol.

I have kindove sat back and waited for it to just happen, like ran to the mirror every morning and expected to see my former skinny self staring at me like a long lost friend...yeah..not gonna happen.

The first 5 weeks I didnt have to work at the loss yes, now, I have to be an active participant.

I had started to expieriment with things that I could chew into liquid but werent good for my loss, but were comfort foods. Namely popcorn and Fritos. I was like excusing the fact that I could eat them on how well I could chew them into liquid...yeah...no.

Those are going into the garbage.

The weather is starting to get nice, I am going to walk on the beach, the track, some where. Friday I am buying a one month membership to the gym (If I buy 3 months Ill think I have 3 months to go..lol)

Again I have to regain the power to take this where I want it to go. And I am kindove excited about that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
