People and thier opinions

Every Pre op doctors appointment/test I have had the nurses feel the need to convince me that I don't need surgery. I even had one call me "little" today. It always makes me feel awkward. I don't know how to respond and don't feel I have to explain myself. So annoying.

One actually asked me how my husband felt and I said he is coming around. She said he doesn't want you to change. I said he doesn't have to worry about me cheating I am not interested in anyone else. She then says you will change your mind when you have a new body! Wtf!

You are the only one who can decide what is best for you. I had a bmi of 36 however I also have a fatty liver, high triglycerides, and a recent diagnosis of diabetes. The diabetes was the final straw for me. Some of my closest friends tried to talk me out of the surgery. I am now 1 month out, I look and feel so much better than I did before. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Stay strong!!

just turn it on them, and tell them why they DO need it.. :D That will get them out of the room quickly.

The people that told me I didnt need it were either big like me or bigger or they were jealous that I was getting a second chance. Luckily for me, my husband comes to all my doctor visits and tells them how happy he is for me (for us) that Im healthier now. He likes to poke the jealous bears :)

I'm assuming you're one of the "lower BMI" patients... and I'm sorry you've gotten such discouragement from professionals along the way. They should all know better!

As a high BMI'er who's gotten nothing but support from my MD, nurses and all the people I've met along the way with my pre-op requirements, I can say that their support hasn't made me feel better about myself or my decision. It kinda made me feel like, "Well, why would they say I don't need it? I'm freakin' huge."

It's a shame that they think they are entitled to tell you what they think. I'm not sure what response is best (probably no response is best, but I'd have to bite my tongue from saying something like, "I don't remember asking for your opinion..." while making a face as if I were trying to recall if I did ask for their opinion...) Try not to let them get you down. They don't know your whole story! :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
