Are you telling me that I will no longer be able to chug Water (like after working out)? I'm banded now and can still chug water (goes right thru the band). That'll be a real feat - trying to not chug water!

I'm almost 6 weeks out and I can drink about 2/3 of a cup of water at a go... My sleeve empties of water pretty quickly so I just have to wait a few minutes before I can continue gulping more water. At about a week after surgery I was already drinking three gulps at a time so everyone is different. Some people have a very swollen sleeve and can't tolerate much liquid at a time at all... they also might get a lot of air in their tummies when the gulp.... others of us don't have much swelling and we are not air-gulpers! Everyone is different!

I never had an issue after about a week out. I guzzle my water bottle as I did prior to my sleeve... But I can only eat a small amt of solids. So perfect :D

I LOVE MY SLEEVE!

The deal is out is very hard to chug a month out, even 3 months out. By six months out, it was possible to chug again. Do be careful about chugging though because if you drink too much too soon, you can get the shoulder pain that we got with excess gas after surgery.

I can't guzzle! I'm 4 weeks out (almost 5) and I often forget and take a big gulp into my mouth then I remember and try to swallow a tiny bit at a time, but that doesn't work and it's painful! I also had a hiatal hernia repaired so I'm not sure which is the reason for the pain! I have also gulped Water and it came right back up (luckily I was standing in front of the kitchen sink!)

Give it some more time. You should be a pretty good drinker by month 3. It is almost required to if you want to get 100+ oz Water in daily.

Me too!! :)

Also, if you're really thirsty and want to chug but know you can't, swish the Water around in your mouth first! That really helps! I still do that if I'm super thirsty and just took a few big gulps, like when I'm exercising.

At my two week post op appointment I was actually instructed not to sip any more. I was told to drink in large quantities and stop when I fell full. I can guzzle a bottle of Water in about 4 good drinks. I have found that if I drink it out of a bottle it seems like I get more air in but if I'll drink out of a cup/glass I do better for some reason. I guess less air.

I was sleeved on 02/11/13 and can only chug about 3 to 4 ounces at a time and that seems to take forever to pass though my stomach. I hate it. I miss being able to chug the whole bottle at once.

100oz um no sir, 64oz is my limit and I'm so not even close to that yet. I'm 1 week out trying to hit 30oz a day.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
