When you say hard candy do you mean some type of Protein that dissolves in your mouth or the sugary kind that helped a lot of us get here? The fact that you are asking other peoples opinions says to me that you know that's a bad idea and you want a cosigner, which you will find here; or you have no idea what happened to your stomach 7 days ago and don't know what and what not to eat at this stage. If the latter it true put a slice of lemon in your Water, keep drinking , toss the candy, and call your doc/ nut and get an eating plan. Good luck !

I wouldn't do that. If you accidentally swallow the hard candy, you could hurt your sleeve.

Like peppermints. Guess was just wondering if anyone had experienced this. I don't have an appetite and can go a full day b4 drinking anything. I'm learning from reading the threads folks are very pationate bat this and have some great suggestions. However, in the nod it's ant your body and your surgeons recommended advice. Thanks!

It is really important that you drink more. You don't want to get dehydrated.

I do try to drink more, slowly once I noticed I haven't in a while.

It's normal to not be hungry its also very common to dislike-hate Water but you have to drink, not an option, actually I.V. Fluid the only option. Try some Decaf / herbal tea or sugar free ice pops .anything you can put in water so you can drink it ; crystal light, mio drops, Please stay hydrated that is what's most important right now.

I was told no sugar. I've tried to make sure that anything mint-wise that I use is sugar free. I wouldn't want to start using something sugar based because eating sugar tends to make you crave more sugar. Get some crystal light or mio drops for your Water and see if that helps. I also could have diet juice and Fuze (the slenderize kind) or Powerade Zero, Vitamin water, Gatorade G2. Try some of those, sometimes something other than plain water helps to get it down. Good luck

Definitely find something that works as far as drinking. It should be sugar free/calorie free or low calorie and caffeine free. . I had no desire for Water at all initially and found that Vitamin Water Zero went down easy. Peppermint tea was another favorite early on too. As the other posters said, you need to get in your water. Mints aren't supplementing anything other than sugar, really.

You can do this, it gets much easier. Good luck and congrats on your surgery!!

I am doing Crystal Light and sugar free Popsicles. The Popsicles are a lot easier it just take so long to drink the liquids.

I did a lot of hot tea in the beginning too. Also, I preferred my Water room temp. Cold Water hurt at first. Warm stuff went down easier for me for the first few weeks. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
