Just scheduled my chest xray...what are they looking for?

I don't know. I just assumed it was to check your lungs and heart so they know if your heart is enlarged, or if there are potential problems (anesthesia) with your lungs. But they can be a blessing. My mom had one before she had a minor surgery many years ago, and they discovered lung cancer. She was able to have part of a lobe removed and lived for several years after that.

I think they just want to make sure the lungs are clear.

Xray tech here: They are checking for clear lungs, properly sized heart, no current disease process like pneumonia. It's all for anesthesia clearance.
