Has anyone else had a strong desire to eat at certain restaurants or eat certain foods "One More Time" before your surgery. I'll be having my sleeve on May 13 and seem to be making a mental list of things I want to enjoy before hand.

I'm losing a little bit of weight, watching what I eat but have certain "planned" splurges. Like French fries, bread dipped in oil cake...etc

Sounds like its just carbs LOL. But it's not. I think that's what I'm craving today.

I'm super excited for my surgery.

Oh goodness yes. And sadly I'm a volume eater, so it's like "I'll never be able to eat a half a dozen donuts again.". I've had a few of these "last supper syndrome" moments the past few weeks. I'm not looking forward to having to mentally deal with my "stuff" when I can no longer find comfort/distraction in food. It's gonna be tuff.

I'm craving a mellow mushroom calzone and a half a dozen krispie kreme donuts as my last suppers...

Not too much longer now!! There will be many, many different opinions on last suppers or food funerals. Ultimately you have to do what works best for you. Once I committed to surgery and changing my lifestyle, I started embracing my choices instead of dreading them (that always lead to failure on any traditional diet I was on) I started tracking my food on My fitness pal, I wanted to be accountable to myself for my intake.

For me, easing into this better-eating life worked. I didn't mourn the loss of what I can't have. The beauty of the sleeve is that there are no "off limit" items. You are bound only by the choices you make. You will have your favorites again if you choose, just much smaller portions. Your better relationship with food starts when you decide, not the day after surgery. So make the best decisions for you.

Best of luck!!

I knew about my surgery the beginning of January but was scheduled for the end of March. I spent 3 months basically mourning food. I gained 7 lbs doing so! i am now 4.5 weeks out and embracing my sleeve and all i has done for me! I now each much healthier, I no longer drink gallons upon gallons of Dr Pepper, and as a result I have more energy, no Migraines, and have lost 29 lbs! Each person approaches the surgery differently but just know that you will be able to eat small amounts of all your favorite foods again!

My surgery is May 7th and I started my 2 week liquid diet today ????. I did splurge and eat a lot for a month (January) and gained 4 pounds. My justification was that it was my "last supper" ( At the time I thought I was getting a gastric bypass). I started cutting back in February. Not dieting, but adding a salad to every meal to fill up on, and skipping the pastry with my coffee. Just maintaining. I am a little scared that I won't be able to break my love hate relationship with food so I have signed up for a nutritionist and counseling package that my surgeon offers after surgery.

I did it, and I don't regret it for a minute. Made myself a little sick, so it was a good reminder as to why I was about to have the surgery.

I described it as my "last hurrah"...and enjoyed lots of old favorites right up to the moment I started my Pre-op diet. No regrets.

I did this, gained all of my"for insurance purposes" weight loss back. I was so sick of eating and being stuffed I embraced my pre-op and flew through the two weeks quickly. I lost the weight gained and with all the drinking and mini meals I feel like I am always satisfied.

I'm really happy that I'm not over eating to the point of being stuffed, imHonestly trying to eat less than I normally would. But I'm going thru a mental punt down of how many days before my liver shrinking diet. Dr told me 7-10 days. Anniversary trip to Vegas the 27-30 and surgery 13 days after we get home. Not a buffet lover, but I've got my eye on a few steak n lobster meals for sure...and some margaritas! Hoping to visit Gordon Ramsays at Paris hotel and enjoy me some beef Wellington.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
