kari61 128 Posted April 22, 2013 Feeling so defeated and frustrated today. The first two weeks post op I was losing 1-2 pounds a day. Since last tuesday I have not lost a pound! Yesterday I went on a 2 hr strenuous hike followed by horse back riding thinking that today I must have lost something and nothing! I'm doing everything I'm suppose to be doing and really upset right now. Pre surgery I had the hardest time losing weight no matter what I did, I did not go through this experience to stop at 20 lbs ! Any suggestions would be helpful,.Not happy today.. AussieLady 521 Posted April 22, 2013 It's called the 3 week stall. Don't worry, it happens to most of us. Your weight will start dropping again, just stay on track with your calories and Fluid.< /p> 1 rebecca_dsu reacted to this

Are you measuring yourself as frequently as you're weighing yourself? I keep hearing if you're not losing pounds you're probably losing inches. :-)
joan 3 Posted April 22, 2013 I feel the same way working out everyday and now am not losing any weight. Still on full liquids even though they clear me for purée I tried it but was not feeling it.
JerseyGirl68 1,172 Posted April 22, 2013 Congratulations on your success so far, you are going really well! I can completely understand being frustrated. Keep in mind your body has to adjust. You will have days you don't lose, and some days the scale just might go up. But, stay on track, and it will start moving in the right direction again. Remember, you are just about 3 weeks out and still healing, don't overdo it.
BayouGal85 16 Posted April 22, 2013 I'm 5 weeks out and on week 3 started a stall that lasted 11 days !!!!! Finally seeing numbers start dropping again.... If your uncomfortable with your dirt go back to the basics and be sure to get all of your Water in.
BeBeSpArKLeS 70 Posted April 22, 2013 I too experienced the dreaded 3 week stall! Mine lasted 2 weeks! I was so upset but last week I lost 4 lbs! Just stay on track and it will come off! oh yeah and I know its easier said then done but try to stay off your scale!
kari61 128 Posted April 22, 2013 Thanks everyone, I'm going to trust you! Lol. I will just keep on doing what I'm doing and pray for the stall to end soon. I'm naturally an impatient person and I need to just stay positive, thanks again.
hadouni 301 Posted April 22, 2013 Trust us! We've all been there... stalls are no fun but they do pass. It's possible the 3 week stall is some sort of natural body cycle because its such a common occurrence among folks here. I lost quite steadily in the first six months and then it s-l-o-w-e-d down. I'd loose 2-4lbs per month and it would all of a sudden drop off after my period started. I'd stalled for almost two months (11-13 months post-op) and started some jogging that helped me drop another 5lbs. Now I'm stalled again and know I'll have to do something pretty different if I want to kick the last 20lbs. You ARE doing GREAT. Just stick with your Dr's plan and keep exercising. 1 kari61 reacted to this
Rust E. Nale 2 Posted April 22, 2013 The dreaded three week stall! Oy!!! I was sleeved on March 18th, 2013. My pre surgery weight was 230 and surgery day it was 218 and my current weight as of this morning was 194....I had hit my 3 week stall right on schedule but thankfully it lasted only 9 days!!! I am grateful for every single experience that I have had.....even the stall...I am happy to say that I have once again picked up on the weight loss and I only look at the scale 2x a week....!!! 1 kari61 reacted to this
rdt210 82 Posted April 22, 2013 I was sleeved on 3/25/13. I only weigh myself once a week (on Mondays since that was my surgery day). Weeks 1 and 2 were fine - lost about 11 pounds. When I weighed myself on week 3, I was UP .8 of a pound. WTH?? But, I learned from these forums that it was perfectly normal and seems to happen to just about everyone. I resisted the temptation to step on the scale during the week, and when I got on this morning, DOWN 3.2 pounds. Total for my first month post-op is 15 pounds, and I'm very happy with that (and no, I don't think I'm a slow loser). Oh, and my calories increased from 550-650 a day to about 700-800 a day this past week prior to my weigh-in. My surgeon wants us to shoot for 850 during the weight loss phase. I think that might be a little too low - I have my 4-week post op appt tomorrow and will ask about that. Hope that stall breaks for you soon! 1 kari61 reacted to this
bethxxx 304 Posted April 22, 2013 I had a stall at about the same time that lasted almost 3 weeks, then I started loosing weight again. You just have to wait it out 1 kari61 reacted to this
melodymouse 196 Posted April 23, 2013 Make sure you are eating enough. It is the number one cause of stalls in the first year after WLS or so I was told by my nutritionist. Not getting enough nutrients will put your body into starvation mode. It will produce more Cortisol to slow your metabolism so you won't "waste away"! So you don't lose. Try to up your intake a little. Worked almost every time for me. 1 kari61 reacted to this
kari61 128 Posted April 23, 2013 Thanks, I will certainly take everyone's advice, guess it was just that initial frustration just like every other diet I was on in the past when you tried so hard and you didn't see the scale moving! LOL..I need to get over that and keep telling myself that this will pass! Thank you.. 1 hadouni reacted to this
buplee 556 Posted April 23, 2013 Don't get discouraged, we have all been there. I hit a three week stall and then it broke. I have been losing 4-6 pounds a week since then. 1 kari61 reacted to this
