Your BEST NSV to date!

Recommended Posts

Please share your BEST NSV (non-scale victory to date)! You must pick only the very best one, even though I know there are lots. And positive answers only please--not that there is such a thing as a negative NSV, but I really need some positivity today and thought this would be fun!

My special order work clothes got picked up. They were a size 3x. So on the way to work I had to change 3 times because even the xl were too large that had recently bought til I picked up my uniforms. From a 3x to a loose Xl. Yay

Not bad for 7 weeks. Woohoo

Newbie with tons of questions. I have had panic attacks ever since my thyroid and blood pressure started giving me problems. Have any of you had any good changes with your thyroid? The Dr. said my blood pressure would go down, but I didn't think to ask about my thyroid. Also I carry most my weight in my bottom half. But my legs are larger than others I'be seen. Its not Water retension but just weight. I can barely where jeans as the legs are so tight it makes it difficult and very uncomfortable. Does anyone else have this problem? My calf's and knees are huge wondering how much loose skin I will experience? And one last question are we suppose to start exercising right after surgery, or wait till after the 6 week period?

Getting on an airplane and not bumping into everyone with my hips as I walk down the aisle and fitting comfortably and with room in the seat!

You'd be better off reposting this elsewhere and starting a new thread. The thyroid will not be changed by surgery most likely. If you have hypothyroid (low thyroid and are on synthroid) you must remain on synthroid. Of course ask your doctor but that is my understanding

I had hypo-thyroid before. Within 4-6 mos PO my thyroid was showing normal activity... You should be walking right away, increase activity gradually. But I started training three - five times a week within about 5/6 weeks post op. everyone is different though. Check with your own surgeons office to know what they want for you.

Best NSV to date: Walking into my son's house about a year after surgery and hearing him say "Holy F, Mom, where's the rest of you?!"

I was at a baseball game last Friday to cheer my grand nephew on and it got VERY cold so I asked his dad if I could go to the house and, of course, he said yes. They have a key in a lock case but when I got there I realized someone has locked the top lock and the key is only for the bottom one. I actually fit through the doggie door!!!!

My very best NSV occurred late last week: to be asked to participate in a professional photoshoot and tell my story for my WLS Center website and other promotional material. It is exciting to be able to do this and to have an impact on many future WLS candidates!

Best NSV for me was finally loving myself enough to let someone else love me!

This weekend I ran my first mud run. The 5k part was doable before surgery but there's no way I could have done all the obstacles. But I totally did it on Saturday. Scaling 10 foot walls? With this body-no problem! Yay!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
