carbs, calories, and protein oh my!

Recommended Posts

Well, I have found myself obsessing over everything! Carbs, calories and Protein. Everyday it seems I am so wrapped up with...am I getting enough of this, am I getting to much of that? Trying to write down, figure and keep track of everything. All I have to say is E.X.H.A.U.S.T.I.N.G!!!! I know 7 months out what I should eat and what I should stay away from. I am 7 months out and have decided starting tomorrow no obsessing over any of it anymore!!! I have been at a 2 month stall, and I am now wondering if my weight is hanging out the same because of additional stress trying to keep track. For the next few weeks, I am just going to eat right, not go run and write down e everything I put in my mouth. I'm just going to go with the flow. Geez

Have you tried mixing it up? My RD really believes in alternating higher and lower calorie days as well as higher and lower carb days (when I do it, I do "good" carbs such as berries and still within reason) to break stalls. This is the ONLY thing that has helped me break a stall, except for more Water. I keep Protein consistent at 80 g or above, and haven't noticed a difference when I bump up to 100-120 g. Your mileage may vary, but it might be worth a try. I don't think that you have to track it exactly if you're 7 months post op--you probably would have a feel for a lower vs higher calorie/carb day. Good luck!

I tried upping my Protein from 80grams to 100grams it didn't change my weight. But I lower my carbs and stop the slider foods and it help. I just broke my stall. Yay

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
