having trouble..adapting

Hey everyone

I am 25 and just had my surgery. I am trying to work this lifestyle change the right way but I am nervous about what and how to eat now. I am at week 2 and am ready to eat "real" food...mushed up of course. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips on how to get through. This is a family effort so all help is much appreciated. What should I buy and start out with?

Thanks everyone in advance

When are you allowed to start pureed? Definitely ease into it. I think the first thing I tried was refried Beans. There is a website called www.theworldaccordingtoeggace.com.

Shelly had rny a while back. You may have heard of this site but she has lots of recipes and things. There is a crock pot recipe for a beef stew that is delish pureed. I was skeptical to puree beef but it was good.

I ate low sugar yogurt (pick flavors without small fruit seeds), cottage cheese, refried Beans with sour cream, pudding with Protein Powder mixed in, pureed bean Soups, Eggface's ricotta bake (A-mazing!). Do a search on here, lots of ideas. Just eat small amounts slowly and see how it goes. Good luck!

I was told to do 3 weeks liquid only, and then ease into pureed for a few days and have pureed foods for 3 weeks, and that worked well for me. It's worth holding off on it. Breaking the routine is so important, and so is not doing anything too fast. I'm 25 also, and it's definitely a change!.

I would suggest starting with thinned down purees, so for example, try greek yogurt for Protein, but with a little milk in it. Put a little Water in your applesauce. Try pureed Soups (like Moosewood's Butternut Squash and Sizzled Sage Soup, which is VERY family friendly, and very tasty). Build up to things like crock pot chicken or beef that is then put in a food processor. I was told that anything for puree stage should be able to be pushed through a fine mesh strainer with a spoon. For other family friendly meals, I really can't suggest the crock pot enough. Everyone else can have the carrots and onions and beef right out of the pot, but you just take the extra step of pureeing them. Super easy, and you don't have to make two meals. Good luck!

Thank you everyone so much for all your help. It so amazing to know that I am not alone. I will try to slow things down as some of you suggest. I am just really worried about the lack of protien that I am getting. I know how important that is. Thanks everyone for all the support, I look foward to providing some back!

Up your Protein by upping your shakes! Make sure you're getting in 3 shakes every day (while on liquid). I use Unjury, so a shake made with one scoop of powder and 8oz of milk gives me a total of 28g of protein. Your body cannot absorb more than 30g at a time, so don't try to get all of your protein in all at once. A shake that promises 50g of protein is not worth it. You'd be wasting half of it.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
