I use Premier now. It is my favorite but it was too thick immediately after surgery. I used nectar powder mixed in Water. The milk bothered me at first.

I used Now brand (they make Vitamins, cooking oil, and whey protein) Protein Powder because I liked it before surgery, but after surgery, I didn't like it anymore. I then tried Unjury, which my hospital recommended, but I hadn't tried because of cost. It is SO worth the cost. I thought Now was okay, because it wasn't repulsive. After trying Unjury- WOAH I didn't realize that Protein powder could taste GOOD. For me, it's worth it- tasty, mixes smoothly, etc. It's a little more than $1 per serving, but it gets a bit cheaper if you subscribe.

OH- and I mix Unjury with milk. It gets my Calcium in at the same time, and my nutritionist said that I should not be limiting my fat too much while on all liquids because a fat deficiency is bad for health and weight loss. She had me on 2%-whole milk for the first 6 weeks.

I am not sure what brand the hospital gave me ... it was Caramel flavored (Caramel or Strawberry). I have Premier Protein at home and I couldn't stomach it until today. I can mix skim or 1% milk in with things (low fat cream of chicken Soup, home made Protein Shakes, etc) but dairy also didn't sit well until today.

I was using premium Protein liquid until the last month. Now I am using powder Cytosport from costco. The only way I can use the powered shakes is with my immersion blender. I have texture issues and my immersion blender takes care of this. I also add things to the shakes... cold Decaf coffee or banana to the chocolate and frozen berries to the vanilla. I drink a shake with 54 grams of protein every morning.

After surgery i discovered that i could tolerate powder Protein because when u blend it air gets incorporated into it so gas kills u and also cause its like gritty. I preferred ready to drink protein. I like the 12 oz can of pure protein that has 35 grams. So if u need 70 grams it would only take to cans and thats 24 oz out of the 64 recommended. Good luck and hope this helps.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
