CharmingTortoise 83 Posted April 21, 2013 Has anyone discovered any good tips for not eating on looooooong midnight shifts. Our favorite hobby in dispatch has always been eating. I've taken to some games on my phone and reading but just wondering what everyone else does to keep the hungries at bay.
njsweetiepie 6 Posted November 25, 2013 I realize that this thread is months old but I will reply anyway. Like you I work in dispatch. I am very familiar with the hobby of eating while at work especially on the midnight shift. I am 5 weeks out and although I cheat sometimes I don't cheat often. I bring 2 Protein Shakes to work with me and try to drink 8 cups of Water too keep me full. I walk as soon as I get off of work for 2 miles. Then have a Jello cup for snack. Not sure if you've heard of this but I have started using a fitbit. You wear it on your wrist 24/7 and it tracks your food and Water intake. Also your calories and exercised are tracked. emtmom2008 1 Posted January 1, 2016 I know this is old but being a dispatcher as well my schedule is all over the place so I try and kept some Greek Yogurt, egg whites, fresh salsa, instant Breakfast with non flavored Protein Powder and milk around. I don't know if you are able to keep food there.
jerseygirl0519 10 Posted January 12, 2016 So glad I found this post. I'm still in the pre-surgery stages and have started thinking how I'd manage to stay hydrated and not eat while working dispatch at night.
