Hevans 3 Posted April 21, 2013 I have UHC. They have 3 requirements which is BMI of 40 or more, a 5 yr weight history and show that I have tried and failed. The only time I have been under a 40 BMI in the last 10 yrs was when I tried a diet and was on liquids for 8 mths in 2009/2010. I lost weight, but failed obviously. My insurance denied me for trying. I have an appeal in, but has anyone ever won an appeal? Thanks

Takingcontrol 467 Posted April 21, 2013 I also won my appeal! Write them a letter & tell them your side...I.e. your history proves you can't do it & keep it off alone!!
Hevans 3 Posted April 21, 2013 I also won my appeal! Write them a letter & tell them your side...I.e. your history proves you can't do it & keep it off alone!! My appeal is in and I sent in some older chart notes that shows a longer history of bmi, I also sent in pictures of myself so they could see. I am just feeling a little defeated and not supported by the clinic (they told me I had to do everything). It is good to hear some postive outcomes and congrats on your appeal. NewAshes 232 Posted April 22, 2013 Oh wow a 5 year obese history? That's ridiculous ! I don't think my insurance has that long of a history check but 5 years ago I was 16 lol I'm pretty sure I was still obese but that is ridiculous
