I had a sleeve surgery more than two months ago. In that period I lost over 90 LB. Simply because I can not eat or even drink enough. The doctor had to readmit me to the hospital to rehydrate me and do endoscopy. They had to extend my stomach a bit and found an ulcer was formed, also some blind pocket.

Still, I am not able to eat much. If I had 2 or 3 crackers a day plus some Protein Drink (15 gm) then I feel that I accomplished something.

The problem is that I still vomit even as soon as I wake up, nothing but mucus or later bile. Today I vomited three times though I had nothing in my stomach at all.

Anyone had complications after their sleeve surgery like mine? If so when all of this went away for you and you got better?

Thanks...

Abraham

Oh Abraham, I'm so sorry you are going through this.. I've been extremely fortunate in my recovery, so I'm of no help.... except to direct you to the section of the forum that is specifically frequented by those who are enduring complications.. Just go to the main page and scroll down, there's a "complications" subforum.

I can only imagine how hard this must be. I'm 10 days out and just now holding down liquids. I've researched a lot on other sites (thinnertimesforum.com) and noticed similar stories with positive endings. Prayers are sent your way.....hope you are healed and feeling better soon.

I have no idea what could cause this but it doesn't seem right. How long ago did they fix your stomach? Have you thought about getting a second opinion?

So sorry to hear this. Something doesn't sound right. You definitely need to pester your doctor until you get resolution. They tend to assume that YOU are doing something wrong to cause your problems because the alternative could mean that THEY did something wrong. Be persistent. Ask to see the head of the department. Demand an outside second opinion. Ask for a copy of your medical record for your "lawyer". The implication that they might get sued, is a great motivator! Do whatever you have to, to get them to solve your problem. The squeaky wheel gets the grease! Keep us posted and best wishes to you!

Also I need to add that my surgery was different. I was opened up because another surgeon was fixing a 19 cm hernia and fixing my abdominal muscles. He also removed 4 LB of excessive skin. It was like a C section. But now I have two open wounds because I am slow healer and of course I have very little Protein.< /p>

Since you can only get a little Protein in. Go for the highest count of protein you can find. Maybe in the morning before you take your head off your pillow take in something. See if that might help you not throw up first thing in the morning

I also had problems with morning acid stomach. In the end, after trying 3 meds, I found an acid reducer (omernazole) that worked for me. Until then I couldn't take too much either. Sipping through a straw was truly the best I could manage. Good luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
