I didn't have the surgery so I could never eat a burger. Hopefully you didn't either. Burgers are good. It's just that more than one of them is not good for you ;)

You recognize that you shouldn't have made the effort to go back and eat the other half. Work in progress as Laura says. That said, what would your old self have eaten? Fries and a soda or milkshake with that burger??????

*raised hand* guilty of eating when not hungry... Last night I made an egg with 1slice bacon, cheese and 1/2 cup spinach.. Not a lot of calories, not a bad meal... I ate half and was full... So I stopped... and set the plate down.. BUT I didn't get rid of the left over food.. so about an hour later I polished off the second half. No it didn't kill me with calories, but this isn't a habit I want to get into either and it defeats the purpose of the sleeve

Don't worry. I don't know of anyone who went through weight loss surgery because they were perfect! The good thing is that we realize that we have room for improvement. Don't stress.... just try to do a little better next time.

Curious? Do those of you who eat this stuff especially early out go to support groups? The one I go to is full of people who are full of regret that they didn't take this more seriously. Didn't try to get as much weight as possible off while they had the chance. The pain in their eyes and on their faces is a great motivator for me. Remember' date=' WLS is only a TEMPORARY tool. It only works for a short time before your body figures out the trick you played on it and adjusts itself. Of all the long term people I know, and there are a lot, only a couple of them still have the consequences surgery created working in their favor. Most are right back into the same old struggle and the scale is rising. Please, don't sabotage yourselves. If you absolutely have to have unfriendly food, there are a lot of things you can to do make them a better choice. We have In & Out burger in CA. I order a hamburger dry. I take 1/2 a wheat sandwich round, my own low fat cheese and add ketchup and mustard instead of their secret sauce. I've cut the fat and calories in half and made a guilt free, healthy choice hamburger that tastes just as good as a regular double double. Try it! I don't feel deprived at all! As for the fries, I gave those up in 2007 so I don't miss them anymore. = )[/quote']

I also had my burger dry. Put some onions on it and ketchup. No cheese. First time w any type of bun.

PS- I posted on the food & nutrition board- The special K chips are the bomb super low-calorie super low carbs. Gives you the crunch you need. Lol. Great w spreads.

My only question is... how did you do it? I'm 12 1/2 weeks out and I can't eat half a hamburger with bun... I can't eat 1/4 a hamburger with bun... or without bun. I am afraid to try bread. I could probably take 3 bites of hamburger patty and be done. You had your surgery a few weeks after me... I just don't see how you did it.. and I'm not saying it judgmentally. I'm just in awe. LOL

I don't know how I do it. Just a little bit at a time and I eat slow. I just started being able to eat mire then 2-3 ounces. This was 4 ounces patti before cooking. Ate 1/2 then the other 1/2 a little later. I'm still pretty full 3 hours later

This thread made me eat a hamburger for dinner!!! AND IT WAS DELICIOUS

Serves 6

1/2 pound extra lean beef (I use grass fed 90/10 cuz that's how I roll)

5 cups raw spinach blanched in boiling Water and excess Water squeezed out and then chopped

2 ounces chopped cheese

1T Parmesan cheese

1 carrot minced very fine

1/4 of a large onion minced very fine

3 garlic cloves minced very fine

1t cumin

2t chili powder

adobo seasoning to taste

1/2t black pepper

1 egg

Mix everything together with your hands

Use your 1/4 cup measuring cup and scoop out 1/4 cup and flatten into a patty. Fry in a COVERED non-stick pan on medium-high heat until done (flipping once obviously).... I ate mine with a slice of bacon and 1/5 of an avocado... and I used a romaine lettuce leaf as a bun... BEST THING EVER!!!!!!!!!

one burger has: 120 calories, 3 carbs (1 fiber), 6 fat, 14 Protein

Hahaha!!!

Don't you love it??

Someone here last week asked me how on earth

Can I have eaten a WHOLE BANANA!!!

(For those of you wondering how.. I peeled it took a bite chewed and swallowed then took another bite, chewed and swallowed till it was gone )

She was 11 months out, I'm 5 months.

She then told me "well I guess I could do it but it would take me a whole hour!"

So I guess I'm a freak of nature :P

At 14 months, I can only eat 1/2 and that's with substituting 1/2 a slice of wheat bread or 1/2 a wheat sandwich thin. As a rule I stay away from bread. I have deliberately wanted to keep my stomach smaller and eating bread just makes me feel bloated. The fact that you can't eat even a quarter is a very good thing! It means you're doing a great job! Keep it up!!!

Thank you for posting this, very well said(more need to read the part about taking it seriously).

The fact that you "deliberately" kept your stomach small??

And you think this one is doing it right by only being able to eat a tiny bit?

My god we all have different stomachs and different capacities.

I did not do anything WRONG. I followed the RULES and I can eat more than 3 bites of anything.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
