Floro or Not

Recommended Posts

I would think that a hospital will have a flouroscope. I go to fillcenterusa.com St. Pete office. I went for my second fill Tues. and they were wounderfull. The fill went great, they try to keep teaching you how to get the best loss of weight. I am right on track and have lost another 7 pounds.

I got my 3rd fill a couple of hours ago using fluro for the first time! I think it is beneficial for the patient to be able to see the band and how it works. Not to mention, the dr. can see what he's doing top:eek:

Personally, I don't think it is necessary every time under normal circumstances but its pretty cool to see at least once!

My Dr. will only do Flouro. It is cool and makes me feel a whole lot better knowing. Threebeauties-Congrats. So glad everything is OK. I had my 3rd fill yesterday and I am hoping for that "sweet spot". Total fill 4.5cc

Good luck!

I heard that there could be problems with diarrhea after a fluro fill. Has anyone had that problem? I am going in tomorrow and want to be prepared. I have to travel 5 hours to the Doctor and don;t want any troubles on the way home. Thanks

I have never heard that or had a problem with that.

When I went for my second fill, I had lost a lot of fat around my belly and my scar tissue had shifted so it was right over the port. The doctor kept pushing for a while and couldn't penetrate the scar tissue--only one poke, but I watched the needle bend under the pressure to the point he knew he couldn't continue without a bigger needle. When he got the bigger needle he was able to push through without any further problem.

I am very glad he was able to watch what he was doing on the fluoroscopy and wonder what the experience would have been like without it. Would he have thought he was in the wrong position? Anyway, all my fills are with fluoro, and as everyone else says, it is a comfort to know the band is correctly positioned, and the port is oriented properly. I feel afterwards that my band has been checked for slippage, which wouldn't be the case without the fluoro.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
