Fat lady on the inside!

Recommended Posts

No matter how skinny I ever get I will always be a fat lady inside.. I like eating pastries, cake chocolate, bacon and other porcine yummies.. Not necessarily in that order, but i can still eat all that just a little bit at a time which is good for me.. Having a small tummy didn't change my mentality just my capacity. Initially it was a mindf u c k but I got over it and now it's life..

I'm so there with you. It's like I've been fat for too long for me to suddenly start thinking like a skinny person (although I don't ever think I'll be skinny but you get me..right)

One of the things I thought about was how would I relate to my friends. Some of them are fat (most are fit though) and we had our own little inside jokes, you know the ones fat chicks make about themselves, each other and every other fat person..it's gonna be so awkward when they start telling the fat chick jokes and I can't chime in anymore......lame, I know but it is a valid concern..

I can so relate. I have been seriously overweight pretty much my entire life, minus early chidhood and a few minutes in my early 20s. Being fat is/was who I am. Makes me wonder if that's why I subconciously ate so much- too afraid of the newness of being thin.

I've always wanted a parasol. The lacy girly kind.

Lol! Not in Ohio.

Back on topic. I totally agree about always being fat on the inside. In my brain.

It has shaped and developed who I am today. It's ingrained in my cells.

I think I'm okay with that too.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
