GOOOOOOoooooooaaaaaallllll! xpost

Recommended Posts

Welcome to the goalies bench! I love it here, and so many of us fit because we are all smaller! I haven't ridden a horse since I lost weight, but I gotta tell you, the amusement park rides are so much more fun now that I'm not stuffed in the seat like a sausage. And I don't have the fear that I can't fit at all!

Lynda

Thanks Lynda. I like the Goalie's Bench... That's fun. I was making amusement park plans for my nephew's annual visit this summer...can't wait.

So I made it to the goal posts. Any more lost will be nice but I've achieved what I set out to do (and maybe more). Here are the stats:

Weight at start of journey: 420

Total loss: 240

Total days since I made the decision and started surgery: 689

Weight loss before surgery: 51

Weight loss since surgery on 10/10/11: 189

Average lbs per week: 2.4

%body weight lost: 57%

Pics later everyone. I'm going to take a horseback riding lesson and Celebrate today!!! I made it!

Now the work starts: Next chapter.. Maintenance: The pizza Strikes Back

Congrats on your success, Terry! You've worked hard to earn that spot on the "goalies bench"! And what a terrific way to Celebrate your success- hope you enjoy! :)

Thanks OWS. It was a great experience. I'm going to keep at it. English riding seems to be a hell of a core workout based on my day after soreness...might have to get some padded shorts too...hahaha

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
