I'm tired of people asking me, how I lost weight. When I had my lapband, I lost 30lbs over a yr time last yr. When I had the sleeve done in Jan, I lost 25lbs in 2mos. I guess its more noticeable now. But I get atleast 2 ppl a wk asking me how I lost weight. I'm not lying to them, just not telling the whole story!! Lol..anybody else having this issue?

You could just say by eating less (and low carb if you are) and exercising (if you are)--still truthful. Or, "thank you for the compliment--I've been working really hard!"

That's what I say. I say a high Protein diet with vegs, and eating way less..lol which I am. But then I say, "what I do, might not be for u".

I am wondering how I am going to handle that' date=' too. I am such a yoyo dieter that no one will believe it's staying off this time, I'm sure.[/quote']

Just say u really decided to live life in a healthier way, and that u made up your mind to stick to eating right. Something along those lines..you'll think of something.

It's a touchy subject , you gotta do what feels right to you. I am from the tell the whole truth answer the questions and keep it moving camp, I told everyone in advance of surgery and anyone who asks, and have given my surgeons tele number several times. It keeps me honest with myself and personally accountable, who wants to be the guy who had wls and got fat again! I hope my 500 lb brother catches a wiff of my moderate success and wants some of this ,then my 375 lb brother then my 300 lb sister ect.ect.

HaHa, your post made me laugh, cause that is what I am thinking. I am just now weighing less than I have in 12 yrs! So happy about that! Good Luck!

I started out saying I was just eating healthier, or doing Atkins or stuff like that. I finally decided to own up to having weight loss surgery whenever anyone asked. The responses I have gotten have all been 100% supportive. I have several people at work that are really interested in the procedure now and come to me with questions, etc. It is a personal choice what you reveal, so do whatever you feel is right for you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
