I am now a master farter!

I've always said if you aren't comfortable enough with someone to fart in front of them, then you shouldn't consider having a long-term romantic relationship with them.

Chris R, too funny, that is what my fiance always tells me. He says his farting in front of me speaks of how much he truly loves me, lol. I can honestly say, I have not suffered from the farting phenomena. I too, hardly ever toot.

I cannot wait for this side effect! I will finally be able to outfart the men I work with! Imagining their faces is priceless.

I found that eating steamed cauliflower seems to add to the volume of gas I produce. You might want to consider adding it to your arsenal. :P

Although it hasn't increased the aroma, it has made a considerable difference in volume!

I always was gassy before (due to IBS) but now it's even worse! And before' date=' a lot of times it was just air but now, 9 times out of 10, it reeks! It's embarrassing. I used to be able to do it in my corner at work and get away with it but now it stinks up the whole room. I was 3 months post-op when I started dating my last boyfriend and I tried so hard to hide it but I don't think I was very good at it. We'd go to bed at night and he always wanted to spoon. I'm sure he noticed me tensing my entire body (to try to hold it in). Now that I'm single again, it's one of my biggest worries about finding someone new. That's ridiculous! I've brought it up at my last two follow-up appointments and the CNP didn't seem too concerned or offer any advice.[/quote']

I have IBS too and I'm newly sleeved. I don't know the impact it will have on me. Pre-sleeve I had a HUGE SMELLY has problem. One thing that helped immensely was using a probiotic. I used Align which is highly recommended by gastroenterologists. It's expensive but worth every single penny. I'm not sure how it will work post op. pre op it was a dream! It took my gas away and made me feel so much better.

I'm a week out and have SO MUCH GAS INSIDE me that is killing me. I would LOVE to fart and belch like an old beer belly man. seriously' date=' to let some of this torturous gas out would be heaven.[/quote']

A week out, it's probably not the toot-able kind and is most likely the gas they fill your abdomen up with when they do the surgery. It's not in your intestine so you can't pass it. It has to be absorbed through your cells. Walking helps it go away faster!

I think you need to declare this talent right at the start of the relationship. Guys love that burping and farting thing! Before you know it you will be the life of the party. I can just hear him now, " come on Babe show them what you can do" and as you let one rip his mates will erupt into a round of applause. Embrace this new talent you have!

lmao, this is a five star topic.

Ironically, I seem to fart a lot less now, but I burp more.

BAHAHAHAHAHAA!! I love it. I can't wait to back up into my husband under the covers and let one rip. Payback after 18 years of enduring the same from him. WOOOOOT!!

Now that's funny!

It varies with me. I wear a CPAP at night with a pretty high setting. If my 3 year old son sleeps in bed with us, then look out. I have to sleep on my side when he's in there. This means too much pressure and lots of swallowed air. No lying, I can bust a 30 second fart in the morning no problem (and probably several more during the night).

I have dragged this thread back out because I am still seeing people who need to declare this problem. I finally revealed this problem to my partner, he was not impressed. My Granddaughter thinks I am a champion. She wants to take me for show and tell next week.

Awesome. I had hoped this went away when I got to solid food. Not so far. At least they don't have "cargo" like during the liquid phase. I'd apologize for TMI but this whole thread is TMI!

I think I need to now seek help for this problem. Any suggestions of miracle cures would be greatly appreciated.

Things have gotten so much better for me since I started on a course of a strong probiotic. I saw relied after the second dose. I will continue for a month, go off it and see how I do. This was recommended by my new dietitian. She said I may need to go back on for a month a couple times a year.

I, too, have become a mistress of gaseous emissions. I'm pretty sure that the methane I'm generating may be accelerating global warming by several years. The up side is that I can get revenge on my dogs, who--although quite small--are experts at the SBD stank bomb. Now they leave the room because of ME. throwroses.sml.gif

I teach middle school--my street cred is about to go THROUGH THE ROOF, for I shall crush my enemies, see them driven before me, and hear the lamentation of their women. opera.gif

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
