RE SUBMITTED!

Recommended Posts

My surgery was denied two months ago for not enough pre required visits, my insurance originally told us I only needed 4, 1 each month they denied within 3 days stating to my WLS office I needed 6 months of visits, I finished and they resubmitted yesterday! I called my ins today it is being reviewed and they said it can take up to 10 days, not to bad. But I'm so hoping they don't find or try something else stupid saying I need to do or I'm not qualified etc! I want to be revised from band to sleeve I'm so done with being overweight!!

Oh wow, I didn't think revision surgeries required the supervised diet stuff... I'm sure it varies by company. Anyway, good luck to you! :)

Definitely call them, maybe even mention to your insurance company that this is a revision surgery and verify that you have to go through this process for a revision. Things get messed up all the time and I'd hate to wait for no reason! Good luck again, and keep us posted!

Well I've already waited the 6 months and done the appointments! I'm following the doctors offices insurance coordinators instructions even tho the process seems flakey. However, It wasn't communicated right the first time after 3 months we submitted after the 4th appointment and when I heard I needed two more appointments for 2 months I was CRUSHED! But I gotta do it! I'm so sick of being in this body tho! Even if I get approval I have to wait till June 10th for surgery, earliest opening because they have to do it at a blue distinction center (which is the actual hospital) and not the surgeons hospital where I was banded, I loved it there tho! But they only do surgeries at the hospital ever other Monday and Memorial Day is in there and the other two Mondays are booked! So, ugh for waiting!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
