Omg, I ate sugary crap for the first time and I'm definitely feeling the repercussion. It's honestly a good thing sugar makes me feel like garbage because I learn the first time and it is so not worth the way I feel. I feel like I have a hangover plus the way people feel after stuffing their face at thanksgiving. Major fail today but I learned my lesson so that's all that matters.

I did that too. I ate lie 3 bites of my sons birthday cake, and felt awful! So i just stay away from things with a lot of sugar. A little doesn't bother me, but i try to avoid it. Lessons learned, and you are right, all that matters is that you learned from it.

Thank you. Yea I didn't have very much but it was enough to make me feel horrible for like an hour. Won't make that mistake twice

I ate a bit of cupcake and it was awful! The cake was fine, I think. It was the frosting. It turned my stomach. I ate a bit of chocolate a couple of weeks ago and it just tasted different. Not as good as it used to. sugar free popsicles seem to be the only sweet I can tolerate anymore. I just wish potato chips and French fries were as repugnant. I would be set for life!

I think that's what it was for me. I ate some of a strawberry shortcake roll and it had a lot of frosting in it... Gag. Now that it made me so sick it doesn't sound good at all. Sugar just grosses me out. Even sugar in yogurt makes me sick so idk why I even attempted the other crap, moment of weakness I guess. Chips use to be my all time favorite snack and now I don't really care for them. I eat one and get heartburn so those I don't eat either. I haven't had French fries, they sound greasy and icky. I wish I didn't have to experiment with food, I wish I knew ahead of time what my stomach likes and hates.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
