Gall bladder or c section?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had their gall bladder out or a c section? If so which was more painful the c section, gall bladder or the sleeve?!

Gallbladder for sure. I had a tube inserted but the sleeve I didn't. I have had two csections and the pain of the gall bladder tube being pulled out was worse than labor pain before they decided to do a c section. Sleeve is different for everyone. But I did ok. Besides the weak feeling. But major surgery will cause that.

Funny I have had all three I would say VSG is very close to gallbladder surgery

I had 3 c-sections, and emergency gall bladder out and the sleeve. I would say the gall bladder was the worst, but the sleeve was a close second. However with the sleeve I was so excited about starting my new life that I didn't mind the discomfort so much.

I haven't had my sleeve surgery yet so I would have to say my Gallbladder was worse than my c-section. 7mths out from gallbladder surgery and I still have some pain from time to time on my right side where the incisions were and where my gallbladder used to be.

I had my gall bladder out the month before my sleeve, they were very comparable as far as discomfort and recovery. But if I had to pick one, I would say the gall bladder was worse. I didn't really feel pain from either one. Recovery was very similar, I had more grumblings from my stomach with the sleeve.

Had my gall bladder out first a few years ago and my vsg was less painful for sure. The gas pains were the worst part. Dont worry, the pain doesnt last long and the benefits are certainly worth it all!!!!

I had a c section and mmy gall bladder out. I'm scheduled to have a sleeve on 4/24 and so far I thought the c section was my worse. The gall bladder was easy for me.

I've had 2 C-sections, and my gallbladder out at the same time as my sleeve surgery. My C-sections were 20 and 25 years ago, but that pain was by far worse than the sleeve/gallbladder surgery. Hope that helps.

C section is the worst in my book. In comparison the sleeve was a cake walk.

It gets pretty bad some days but I think that because I am a SAHM I never really got the chance to really rest and heal like I should have. The same group of surgeons are going to be doing my VSG surgery so I plan to talk to them about it when I meet with them to get my surgery date at the end of May. My SO jokes that they left something in my belly when they did the gallbladder removal lol.

I thought my gall bladder was worse than the sleeve, but the gall bladder was outpatient. After my sleeve I was on scheduled IV pain meds for the first 2days.

I've only had a c-section and VSG but the sleeve was way worse to me. The fact that I couldn't swallow anything made it even worse, but the pain was much higher than a c-section and hurt worse.

I would agree. My sleeve surgery and recovery were remarkably easy. My c-sections were far more painful. I remember it taking 20 minutes to get out of bed it hurt so much. I also think surgery has come a long way in the last 25-30 years.

Of course, the c-section also come with post surgery complications every time without fail and last forever. They actually gave me what they took out and I had to bring him home! :P With the sleeve they keep what they took out. :D

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
