I got approved today with one dietitian visit and a therapist clearance. I am 5'4" 215 pounds and have type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and anxiety!! I am excited. They turned in the paper work Monday and approved me on Friday! I am scheduled for April 29th.. I put these details because these are things I was curious about when researching about insurance approvals and people's situations

OMG!!!!! You just totally relieved a lot of my stress. I think I'll be able to sleep tonight!!! I was having insomnia because I am worried I won't qualify. I have BCBS Texas too and my BMI is 36. I have sleep apnea and hypertension. So after reading your post- I think I may have a good chance! They will be submitting it this week (I hope). I have a lap band and want the sleeve revision. The lap band was a total failure and I've had it for 8 years....I'm ready for the dang thing to be removed! Hope all goes well with your surgery and thank you for sharing- it really made me feel better. Congratulations!!!

Yes good luck! I just had my surgery.. Wiping your mouth a tongue with a wet rag is a savior keep that in mind! Thiose lemon swabs make ur mouth Water a bit but then they are dry and taste ten times worse! Wipe your mouth and I sides with a very wet rag! Even suck some water out and gurgle it, just don't swallow

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
