Is it fill time?

Recommended Posts

I don't know if I need a fill or not. I have been stuck at this weight for a couple of weeks.

Sometimes when I eat I feel like it gets stuck, only after a few bites, I could puke if I would let myself. This is usually the first meal of the day. So I quit eating go for a walk and it feels better. Then I don't finish my meal. I can't say that I have truly felt much hunger since my banding. I know that I am eating way less than I did before surgery. But the scale seems to be stuck. I am down 36 sometimes 37 pounds in 8 weeks.

I am just afraid if I get a fill that I will have that stuck feeling more often.

Also gas, I always have it. When I drink lots of Water it seems to be worse.

Any advise?

Thanks Kathy

Kathy, Kathy, Kathy...

Lord, woman, you have been averaging nearly 5 pounds a WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You DO know that the expected average weightloss is 1-2 pounds a week, right? That's 4-8 pounds a month, and your average is almost 19 pounds a month!!!!!!!

YOU DO NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NEED A FILL.

Your body needs time to adjust to this huge weightloss. You are obviously restricted enough, and getting a fill could create serious problems since you're already having pain in the mornings.

If I were you, I wouldnt even start thinking about another fill until after I had plateaued for SIX weeks. But I bet it won't be that long for you.

Stop looking at your scale, and start looking at your health. This is your time to do your head work, to wrap your mind around this process.

You are doing awesome - don't screw it up by not being satisfied with over TWO TIMES the expected average weight loss!!!

Kathy, I can relate to what you're saying. I am tighter in the mornings too. After noon and evenings I can eat anything, except bread without a problem. I have noticed that I am beginning to be able to eat more and more, so I am going for a fill! I lost all my weight when I was on liquids and mushy food, not an ounce since solids. I would not do it if I were still losing. Like Donali said, I don't want to lose too fast, I got this band so I could get healthier.

That is just what I needed to hear. Thanks Donali and Neicy. I wasn't sure if I should get a fill, I just thought since the scale had slowed down that it must be time. Since I am 2 months out I didn't think that I could possibly be a lucky one and have restriction with out a fill.

I guess I just needed to hear it from you guys. I am very excited over my weightloss and my health is improving everyday.

I love this band and you guys. I can always come here and find the answers that I need.

Thanks so much,

Kathy

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
